Arrangement for piano solo by Leonard Bernstein-From the time of Copland's first visit to Mexico City in 1932 when his friend Carlos Chávez took him out a nightclub called El Salón México Copland wanted to compose a piece about the unusual dance hall. He said I was attracted by the spirit of the place and by the Mexican people. Using Mexican melodies seemed appropriate. My purpose was not merely to quote literally but to heighten without in any way falsifying the natural simplicity of Mexican tunes. Much to Copland's surprise and delight El Salón Méxicowas welcomed warmly in Mexico and has consistently been one of his most performed pieces. A movement from The Armed Man : A Mass for Peace from Adiemus composer Karl Jenkins. Recently performed by Hayley Westenra on her best-selling album Pure .

The work opens with a stern fanfare in bare fifths which leads to a cantabile theme introduced by alto saxophone. This builds to a climax and reintroduces the fanfare which slowly evolves into the subsequent vivo. A perky tune emerges on flute saxophone and trumpet which after a short bridge passage leads to a contrasting melody on low clarinets and saxophones. After some development a true ‘second subject’ appears for the whole band. A recapitulation leads briefly back to the opening fanfare before the vivo returns to close the work in celebratory mood.

The title Song For A New Generation refers to the approaching millennium change. The composition starts with a sustaining bolero-tempo the themes make their entry and the music gradually swells to an overwhelming climax. The turbulent harmonic passages symbolize the wars of the past. In the end the main theme returns once more describing a call for peace on earth.

Authoritative Urtext edition of Johann Sebastien Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No.3 In G Major BWV 1048 . The six Brandenburg Concertos BWV 1046-1051 prized jewels of the world's musical heritage were written in 1721 during Bach’s appointment in Cöthen. Of the six works Bach originally wrote earlier versions of numbers 1 and 5 which differ not only with regard to articulation but also at times different tones different rhythms instrumentation and of course form. These Urtext publications [BA 5201-BA 5206] taken from the New Bach Edition now give performers the possibility to play these earlier versions perhaps even alongside theversion known today.

Danny Boy has been adapted from an Old Irish Air by Fred Weatherly. This St. Patrick's Day favorite was composed around the turn of the twentieth century. This version is written in the key of D.

As early as 1743 while Handel was still alive Francesco Geminiani produced an arrangement of the Water Music for Keyboard instruments thereby making it possible to perform this popular work in domestic surroundings. Then presumably in 1749 an unknown musician arranged theMusic for the Royal Fireworks for transverse Flute or Violin and Harpsichord. In addition to these two contemporary versions this edition also contains an arrangement by the editor for Harpsichord or Organ based on the first edition. Though both early sources explicitly mention a Harpsichord the arrangements can also be performed effectively note-for-note on the Organ. As the surviving anonymous version merely places a solo part and a figured Bass on a two-stave system our edition is accompanied by performance material with one part each for transverse Flute/Oboe/Violin and Violoncello/Double Bass plus a figured Bass realisation.
