Pop Tune Variations is a composition in several short movements based on one main theme. Each variation has a specific character and style. This work is especially suitable for youth orchestra’s or lower divisions and has at the same time a didactic function.

This easy concert march can be divided into two parts. The first part which is rhythmical beautifully contrasts with the second part which is lyrical. Each section of the band has its turn in this concertmarch which in spite of its easy level of difficulty deserves the designation “five-star piece.”

Vient ensuite un passage plus rapide fortement syncopé qui évolue sur un groove de batterie solidement appuyé et qui développe des lignes mélodiques à l’unisson. Lorsque la musique atteint sa densité maximale la ballade initiale est réexposée puis mène la composition vers une fin triomphante.

dall' opera 'Un Ballo in Maschera'-For the first draft of the libretto of Un ballo in maschera (1859) Giuseppe Verdi drew his inspiration from the grand-opéra Gustave III by Auber an opera performed for the first time in Paris in 1833 that depicted the assassination of the King of Sweden. However censorship first in Naples and then in Rome intervened and imposed heavy modifications. Perhaps because it was too demanding Verdi showed no intransigence with the requests coming from Naples and refused to alter the libretto. On the other hand he yielded to the requests of the Roman authorities and agreed to change the site of the action and the identity of the protagonists. Consequently the scene movedfrom Stockholm to Boston and King Gustav became the Count of Warwick Governor of Massachusetts.The prelude to the second act is very short and introduces the scene at the place where the scaffold stands. In only a few measures Verdi skillfully succeeds in condensing the interior restlessness of the protagonists alongside a prayer of hope.

Bagatelle means something like triviality or small matter. Despite the constantly varying times this composition - based on a single theme - sounds particularly light. The theme is introduced in its natural form first followed by some variations that lead to an uncomplicated canon. This charming interlude is fitting for every concert programme.

Antonio Caldara (1670–1736) is primarily known for his numerous oratorios and operas which brought him great popularity during his lifetime. Besides these large-scale compositions Caldara also wrote smaller Vocal works of which his “ Stabat Mater ” is the best known. This publication is based on Eusebius Mandyczewski’s edition of the “ Stabat Mater ” which has until now been the definitive edition. The notation and key signatures havebeen adapted to today’s standards. The effective instrumentation with two Trombones and Strings supports the solemn character of the work and enables smaller-scale performances.

La clarinette la mandoline le violon les tambourins tambours de basque et le célèbre bouzouki sont les instruments typiques de la musique traditionnelle grecque. Le répertoire de cette musique est partagé en trois catégories principales : les chants traditionnels grecs (le dimotiko ) les chants traditionnels des immigrants (le rebetiko ) et les chants de compositeurs du XXe siècle. La musique grecque moderne a été rendue célèbre par Mikis Theodorakis compositeur de renom qui parallèlement à ses engagements politiques contre le régime fasciste a contribué à travers ses mélodies à la diffusion des textes de grands poètes grecs modernes. Dans cette suite FrancoCesarini a rassemblé trois chansons appartenant à la tradition musicale ancienne. La première O Haralambis est une chanson typique accompagnant le kalamatianos une danse traditionnelle circulaire en 7/8. Satirique et taquine O Haralambis est interprétée à l’occasion de mariages. Elle relate l’histoire d’un jeune homme qui refuse d’être marié. Le passage central développe un autre air traditionnel intitulé I Voskopula . Le deuxième mouvement Stu Psiloriti fait référence à une ancienne mélodie de l’île de Crète. Le Psiloritis est le point culminant du mont Ida. Le troisième mouvement de la suite est basé sur le chant Vasilikos tha gino un chant très ancien de la région de l’Épire. Certains éléments de ce mouvement nous rappellent le sirtaki la plus célèbre de toutes les danses grecques.
