For every new edition which has appeared during the course of time there have been only two authentic sources to draw upon; the copyist’s manuscript of the score with Beethoven ’s own corrections and the first edition in parts from 1808 which was published in Vienna and which contains a few revisions dated after the aforementioned manuscript. Though no new sources have been available for this new edition numerous editorial emendations which have prevailed in all previous editions (evenUrtext editions) have now been corrected. Thus this new Bärenreiter Urtext edition presents Beethoven ’s famous work in the clarity which it deserves.

The first movement of this work an Allegretto begins with a fanfare-like opening. After a number of other melody lines a reprise of the beginning follows which ends in a cadenza for the soloist. Movement two titled Rituel is characterized by interplay between the soloist and the band within a stately melody. In the final movement the theme of the first movement’s opening returns. As the indication ‘alla marcia’ of the last movement suggests this Allegro Giocoso contains march-like music that guarantees a lively conclusion.With Concertino Kees Schoonenbeek has written an appealing work that is very suitable for a beginner soloist. It is also available for trumpet andpiano.

St Mark Passion (BWV 247): A reconstruction. Recitatives and turbae by Reinhard Keiser (1674-1739). Although all that survives of Bach's “St. Mark Passion” is Picander's libretto virtually all the arias and choruses can be reconstructed from “parody” versions. The original recitatives and turbae however are probably lost forever. Rather than rewriting these numbers “in Bachs's style” the editor Austin Harvey Gomme has added passages from Reinhard Keiser's setting of the Passion (a setting highly esteemed by Bach who performed it several times) thereby allowing this lost work to be performed in its entirety. Let the Earth Now Praise the Lord-The well-known chorale Nun komm der Heiden Heiland ( Let the Earth Now Praise the Lord ) was written by Martin Luther in 1524 and derives from a translation of a hymn from the 4th century before Christ. The melody was composed by Johann Walter however Johann Sebastian Bach used it as a basis for many cantatas. This arrangement by Jacob de Haan gives your band the chance to perform an attractive version of this beautiful chorale.

Stramproy Centennial-Philip Sparke’s Sinfonietta No. 4 is comprised of three parts that are played as an uninterrupted whole. The _x001F_first movement begins with a lyrical fugato passage framing a brisker and more rhythmical middle section. The second movement is slower and contains a long and expressive euphonium solo. The third movement is a salute to the sponsor of this commission: various percussion instruments conjure up sounds reminiscent of a carpenter’s workshop accompanied by a unison orchestral passage in a scat style.

As performed by Queen-Queen are known not only for their stylistic diversity but also for their over-the-top theatrics during concerts and in videos. German baroque composer Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767) was a self-taught multi-instrumentalist becoming a composer against his family's wishes. However his musical career saw him hold important positions and to this day he remains a major composer. His sublime Sonata in C minor for Oboe is superbly arranged for Alto Saxophone by contemporary French saxophonist Jean-Marie Londeix. Telemann composed his Sonata in C minor for Oboe whilst in service to the German Royal family. During this time he composed a wealth of instrumental music including Sonatas and Concertos. Londeix 's arrangementfor Saxophone of Telemann 's Sonata includes adaptions for the instrument such as dynamics phrase marks performance and tempo directions articulation and breath marks making the baroque genre accessible to the Saxophone a relatively modern instrument.
