Rachmaninov wrote Vocalise for Voice and Piano but did not set a text to it unlike the other songs in the Op. 34 set. It immediately became popular and the composer fashioned several transcriptions of the work including one for Piano and another for Orchestra. This edition is arranged for Flute and Piano.

Suite for Orchestra- In 1918 Gabriel Fauré then 73 years old received a commission from Prince Albert I of Monaco to write stage music invoking the atmosphere of the commedia dell’arte. The four-movement orchestral suite Op.112 consisting of Ouverture Menuet Gavotte and Pastorale combines previously unpublished parts of this stage music. The Pastorale of 1919 was Fauré’s last composition for orchestra the Ouverture originated in a piece of 1864 for piano duet and the original version of the Gavotte was written for piano as early as 1869. The Op.112 orchestral suite demonstrates how the composer now older and more experienced reworked and improved his earliermusic. This scholarly-critical edition of the four-movement Masques et Bergamasques Op.112 is based on Gabriel Fauré The Complete Works Volume IV/2. Opera in three acts- Almira Handel's first opera was well received when premiered in 1705 at the Theater am Gänsemarkt in Hamburg. The director was Reinhard Keiser who remarkably had himself already set Friedrich Christian Feustking's text to music. The role of Fernando was sung by Johann Mattheson. The translation used by Handel leaves several Italian arias in their original language resulting in a delightful mixture of German and Italian. The opera which after sundry entangled romances ends in the wedding of three couples is characterised by exuberant scenes: the procession at Almira's crowning ceremony a duel a prison scene and a masked-ball involving the three continents Europe Africa and Asia. The vocal score to Almira by George Frideric Handel brings about a small sensation: Whilst conducting a reenactment of this work in 1732 Georg Philipp Telemann removed the Aria no. 28 Ingrato spietato from his conducting score. Since then this aria has been deemed lost. Due to necessity only the edited vocal text devoid of any music was presented in the 1994 volume of the Halle Handel Edition. Thanks to a recently discovered contemporary manuscript copy from the beginning of the 18th century which was found in the music library of the Mariengymnasium in Jever this aria has now been made available to performers for the first time in this new vocal score edition. Previous to this the corresponding pages could only be seen as a facsimile in an article of the Gottinger Händel -Beiträge. Now the aria can be performed again. Furthermore with the help of this new source missing measures in the basso continuo which had initially been completed by the editor of the Halle Handel Edition volume could be reconstructed from the basso continuo part of the Bellante aria Ich brenne zwar (no. 71). - Urtext edition based on the Halle Handel Edition - Original German and Italian text with a German translation of the Italian arias

Hawkes Pocket Scores HPS 712-In 1941 Argentine composer Alberto Ginastera was commissioned to write a Ballet comprising One Act and Five scenes that was based on and would depict pastoral life in Argentina. He closely based his score on the great epic poem Martín Fierro by Jose Hernandez which tells the story of the Argentinean cowboys or Gaucho — nomadic and heroic figures who are the subject of much of the country's folklore. The story tells of a city boy who watches and falls in love with a country maiden. Despite initial contempt for him her feelings turn to admiration as he demonstrates he can perform the rough and difficult work and proves his skill in taming wild horses. Estancia is set over the passage of a single day: dawn morning afternoon night and dawn. Ginastera has not only captured the rhythms of life on a Estancia or ranch but also provided an insight into the gaucho's now diminished way of life. This volume is the Hawks Pocket score containing all the dances from the ballet in Study Score Format.
