nach Gedichten von Hermann Hesse- After emigrating from Berlin at the age of 16 the Jewish composer Ursula Mamlok wrote Four German Songs in 1958 while studying at the Manhattan School of Music. Based on texts from Hermann Hesse's collection Vom Baum des Lebens the songs reflect the uprooting from home. Mamlok juxtaposes Hesse's melancholy with an intensive tonal image which proceeds from expressionism with short motifs and tonal transgression yet ventures into new spheres of expression.

Wonders of Nature was composed as a soundtrack for a nature film and even without the images the work will appeal to the performers as well as the audience. Cantata for the First Sunday of Advent- Nun komm der Heiden Heiland BWV 62 Cantata for the First Sunday of Advent Bach began two of his cantatas (BWV 61 and 62) - belonging to the Weimar and Leipzig periods respectively - with Martin Luther`s Advent hymn 'Nun komm der Heiden Heiland' a German version of the early church hymn 'Veni redemptor gentium'. The cantata can be described as a Choral Cantata typical of Bach's late creative period incorporating the older technical processes of polyphonic chorale settings as well as more modern solo movements. Dvo ák ’s Serenade In E Major for String Orchestra is one of his most popular and frequently played works. It was written in the spring of 1875 when he had just experienced his first successes at the conductor’s podium and had received a state arts scholarship. The score and parts were published by Bote & Bock Berlin in 1879. This Urtext edition is based on the composer’s autograph score. It corrects mistakes found in the first edition and so for the first time the editor incorporates omitted passages from the autograph marking them with Vi-de. To this day Eugène Bozza (1905-1991) remains one of the most prolific composers for wind instruments despite being a violinist himself. His Fourteen Arabesque Studies for Flute will enable the pupil to attain brilliant technique on the instrument. During his studies at the Paris Conservatoire Bozza won prizes for Violin conducting and composition as well as the Grand Prix de Rome. He then conducted the orchestra of the Opéra-Comique and became Head of the Conservatoire in Valenciennes whilst remaining a prominent composer. The studies in Bozza 's books prepare students for this most difficultrhythms and melodic writings. Furthermore Fourteen Arabesque Studies contain virtuosic exercises including range intervals embouchure breath control phrasing articulation performance directions dynamics and chromaticism among other aspects. Being Arabesques all Bozza 's studies are exploited with complex rhythms and ornamentation making for a unique and essential aid in the progression of advanced Flute studies.

This work was written especially for the Belgian trombonist Ben Haemhouts and was created on Dec. 29 1998 in Ravels. Colors for trombone is a virtuous composition based on four colors Yellow Red Blue and Green. Each Color characterizes a typical musical quality. This masterpiece of Bert Appermont is undoubtedly a superb addition to the trombone repertoire!

Was mir behagt ist nur die muntre Jagd BWV 208 Congratulatory Cantata for the Birthday of Duke Christian of Saxony-Weissenfels and of Duke Ernst August of Saxony-Weimar The hunting cantata the earliest secular cantata of Bach's which has come down to us was performed for the birthday of Duke Christian of Saxony-Weissenfels (23February) - according to most recent research very probably in the year 1713. It was later performed again for the birthday of Duke Ernst August of Saxony-Weimar (the co-regent of Duke Wilhelm Ernst). Bach's score employs taut musical forms; noteworthy - and entirely characteristic of Bach's early style - is the dominant role of the continuo in recitatives and arias. He then conducted the orchestra of the Opéra-Comique and became Head of the Conservatoire in Valenciennes whilst remaining a prominent composer. Composed in 1953 Bozza 's Allegro andFinale reflects the composer's success in composing for a variety of instrumentations. As music educationalist Paul Griffiths has written of Bozza 's compositions 'his works reveal melodic fluency elegance of structure and a consistenly sensitive concern of instrumental capabilities.'

Edward MacDowell can be regarded as the first great American composer although he disliked the idea of being classified as any sort of musical nationalist. He composed a large number of orchestral works but it is the charming and unpretentious suite of musical miniatures Woodland Sketches that has survived as his best-known work with To a Wild Rose being the most popular. Philip Sparke has expertly arranged this simple work for concert band.

As performed by J. Geils Band-The ´J. Geils Band´ from Massachusetts in the USA played blues-rock in the 1970s but by the beginning of the 1980s had evolved their sound to a somewhat more pop style. And not without success: the album Freeze Frame sold by the million! The eponymous song Freeze Frame was the second single release from the album and has become an absolute favourite with audiences everywhere.
