Five Variations on the 'Brugg Song'-Kaleidoscope is a set of five variations of on the ‘Brugger Lied’ (Brugg Song) which is the traditional song of the town of Brugg. The lyrics tell of the geography people and traditions of this charming and historic town which is situated in the north of Switzerland near to the German border about halfway between Basel and Zurich.Each variation is based on tiny extracts of the theme the whole piece therefore resembling the effect of a kaleidoscope which juxtaposes small fragments of colour in a constantly changing pattern.

Being a fascinatingly unique composer Olivier Messiaen pushed the conventions of composing to its very limits. The composer's music remains ever-popular and The Technique of my Musical Language provides the key and necessary knowledge into the study of his delightful music. Olivier Messiaen (1908-1992) was admitted to the Paris Conservatoire at the mere age of 11 where he won many prizes. As a passionate ornithologist as well as organist and composer many of Messiaen 's works depict bird song. His music is rhythmically complex and harmonically and melodically distinct often using modes of limitedtransposition. It is for these reasons that the composer compiled The Technique of my Musical Language . The book contains text with musical examples describing unique elements of his music such as ametrical music his rhythmic notations and his modes of limited transposition among many others. For all fans of Messiaen The Technique of my Musical Language is essential to the understanding of the composer's much loved music.

Cantata for soloists choir and orchestra- Lobe den Herrn meine Seele (Praise thou the Lord o my spirit) BWV 143 Little is known about the genesis of Lobe den Herrn meine Seele (Praise thou the Lord o my spirit BWV 143. A transcription from the 19th century was for a long time considered the only source; the musical text of the New Bach Edition was based on this material. Recently however a copy of the score from 1762 has become available. It offers a more reliable musical text rendering a complete revision of the cantata necessary. On the basis of this new source the work is presented here as part of theNew Bach Edition - Revised in what is presumably its original form in C major with three trumpets. This orchestration is more typical of Bach's writing than the version for three horns in the surviving B-flat major version. Joan Cabanilles was cathedral organist in Valencia and the towering figure in Spanish organ music of the late 17th century. His brilliant and diverse musical language rooted in the traditional sounds of Spain has not managed to reach a large audience outside the Iberian peninsula although he is often called “a musician of European stature”. The aim of this three-volume Urtext edition is to grant access to his most appealing works. To this end all available sources in the libraries of Astorga Barcelona San Lorenzo de el Escoreal Felanitx/Mallorca Jaca and Montserrat have been examined and newly evaluated. This work was commissioned for The Berkshire Young Musicians Trust (England) who required a testing piece for the woodwind section of their concert band. The piece opens with a strong unison passage based on the interval of a fifth and develops with a passionate legato. This is followed by the main vivo section of the work based on the earlier 'fifth' figures. A bridge passage leads to a short chorale figure and a rhythmic climax which dissolves into a plaintive solo for oboe over staccato clarinets. Following a recapitulation of the main theme the oboe returns triumphantly before the opening unison passage reappears to provide a stirring coda.

As a major figure on the classical music frontline Bozza 's compositions were well-received by audiences particularly those for wind instruments and his Clarinet Concerto is no exception. This Bozza piece for Clarinet is expressive and virtuosic displaying the entire range of the instrument accompanied by an equally virtuosic Piano reduction. The Concerto comprises three movements and is one of 19 Concertos written by the composer. As music educationalist Paul Griffithshas written of Bozza 's compositions his works reveal melodic fluency elegance of structure and a consistenly sensitive concern of instrumental capabilities. Clarinet Concerto is a suitable and significant addition to the advanced clarinetist's repertoire. As a trumpet player André Waignein has composed many pieces for this instrument; extremely electrifying pieces meant for young trumpet-players and more demanding works for professionals.With his rhapsody André Waignein wanted to compose a piece in which spontaneity dominates and in which the virtuosity sonority and style of the soloist is featured to its maximum. Although the piece is not one of the most difficult it nevertheless places high musical demands on the soloist. Following an impressive orchestral opening the soloist comes to the fore with long phrases followed by more dynamic and rhythmic passages. The second movement gives evidence of extreme sensitivity andoffers the soloist the opportunity to prove that the trumpet (flugel horn) can be a stirring and emotional instrument. The third movement is the most spectacular. The orchestra actively participates with increasingly delicate interventions. The soloist can display all the possibilities offered to him by his instrument. With a long sostenuto on the trumpet (flugel horn) the beautiful rhapsody ends.

Agrestide Op. 44 by Eugène Bozza (1905-1991) is a piece for Flute and Piano written for the Paris Conservatoire contest. Dedicated to Gaston Crunelle a professor at the Paris Conservatoire this piece is very difficult and was composed in 1942. Op. 44 is divided in 4 distinct parts: Moderato (like a Pastoral) Cadenza Andantino Anime and Piu Vivo. Agrestide Op. 44 is really melodic and would also be perfect for a contest or recital. Eugène Bozza won different prizes at the Conservatoire de Paris such as the First Prize for the Violin conducting andcomposition as well as the Grand Prix de Rome. He also composed several operas chamber works and ballets among others.

Conte Pastorale is a piece for Oboe and Piano accompaniment by Eugène Bozza . Dedicated to F. Legrand a professor at the Valenciennes Conservatoire this work is quite difficult and would be ideal for upper intermediate/advanced players. It is divided in three parts: 1. Moderato 2. Andantino 3. Allegro - Scherzando This volume features the score and parts. It is a really nice for concerts and recitals. Hecomposed several operas chamber works and ballets among others.

Elegy for Band-The initial idea was for a millennium piece which it is but rather than add to the many celebratory pieces that have understandably been written to salute the 3rd millennium Philip Sparke thought it would perhaps be appropriate to think about the aspects of life that are constantly with us (such as faith and philosophy) rather than the exciting changes that the year 2000 has undeniably wrought. This calm meditative work will bring a moment of serenity and reflection to any concert.
