Cantata for the Sunday Jubilate- Weinen Klagen Sorgen Zagen (Weeping Crying Sorrow Sighing) BWV 12 Cantata for the Sunday Jubilate - Performance material (BA10012) vocal score (BA10012-90) & study score (TP1012) available for sale Barenreiter's editions of Bach 's Cantatas offer the authoritative text of the New Bach Edition meeting Bärenreiter Urtext standards. No group of works in Johann Sebastian Bach ’s output is as wide-ranging as the cantatas. This is hardly surprising considering that for over five years Bach was required to compose a work or at least re-work an existing one for every Sunday and festival of the church year aswell as for numerous secular occasions such as council inaugurations school and university celebrations and royal birthdays. Unfortunately not all cantatas have survived. However over 200 sacred and secular works exist and form a corpus of works suitable for all possible occasions. This rich musical heritage is still as relevant today as it was then.

Music from the Caribbean is instantly recognisable. It somehow conveys sunshine and lazy summers and is full of the ‘feel-good’ factor. It is this infectious happiness that composer Philip Sparke has tried to capture in Clarinet Calypso.

g-moll Op. 33 B. 63- Composed in 1876 Dvorak's only piano concerto has been overshadowed by his other two concertos for violin and violoncello respectively. Performers and editors have often attempted to upgrade this pianistically unassuming work by adding stylisations of their own. Our Urtext edition revaluates the sources frees the work from subsequent interventions and presents it to full advantage in its authentic form. The principal source of our new edition is the first complete print issued by the publisher Hainauer in 1883 which has been meticulously collated with the autograph. The anonymous original piano reduction is so full of mistakes that editor Robbert vanSteijn decided instead to present the version by Karel Šolc. - New Urtext edition of Dvorak's only piano concerto - Foreword by Dvorak scholar David R. Beveridge (Eng/Cz/Ger) - Commentary on performance practice by Czech pianist Ivo Kahanek (Eng/Cz/Ger) - Piano reduction by Karel Šolc adapted to fit this new edition - Full score (BA10420) and two-piano reduction (BA10420-90) available for sale - Performance material (BA10420-72) available for hire

Three Easy Dances for Band-The three castles city walls and the old town of Bellinzona together form one of the Swiss World Heritage Sites on the UNESCO List. Unlike similar fortifications the castles of Bellinzona are almost completely preserved in their original condition. As the title of this work suggests the three movements of Bellinzona Castles are based on the three castles which are briefly described as follows:The Bellinzona castles are grouped around the Castelgrande —known as St. Michael’s Castle—which stands on a rock looking out over the valley of the Ticino river. The castle was built in the 10th century and has two distinctive towers: one white and oneblack. The strong castle walls that embrace the entire old city run out from here. The second castle Montebello is built as part of the defensive wall. The heart of the castle dates from the late 13th century but it was expanded between the mid-14th century and the end of the 15th century. The third castle Sasso Corbaro stands on a rock southeast of the fortifications. The castle which was built at the end of the 15th century stands apart from the rest of the fortress.

Elgar’s five Pomp and Circumstance Marches were written between 1901 and 1930 with number 1 undoubtedly being the most popular of the five. King Edward VII told Elgar that the tune would ‘go round the world’ if words were fitted to it. Elgar took the hint and included it (with slight rhythmic changes) in his Coronation Ode of 1902 with words by A. C. Benson. Thus was born Land of Hope and Glory which is now of course an integral part of the annual Last Night of the Proms when the audience (with varying degrees of success!) sing the words along to the original march. Now your brass band can enjoy all the pomp and ceremony of proms with this arrangement byPhilip Sparke. Cantata for Easter Tuesday-Der Friede sei mit dir BWV 158 Cantata for Easter Tuesday The cantata Der Friede sei mit dir is one of those works of Bach’s which present the most problems. Neither the author of the text nor the history of the work’s composition is known to us; and to judge by appearances the version that has come down to us is but a fragment compounded of a number of once disparate elements and gives little indication of the work’s original form. Yet the movements that have come down to us are of such uncommon musical interest that we would not want to be deprived of them just because they may be incomplete. The modesty of its requirements is at least in partresponsible for the comparatively wide popularity enjoyed by this cantata. - Urtext of the New Bach Edition - Full score & performance material (BA10158) vocal score (BA10158-90) available for sale

Fanfare-This fantastic stirring fanfare was written with the composer?s wish that the young musicians performing it would fly into the bright future like pheasants. The first part of the piece is a fanfare which is suitable for opening ceremonies and the second part is a lush chorale-like movement. Your band can perform both parts together or you could perform each one separately. This short opening work will start any concert in real style.

Folk music plays an important role in the life of the Ukrainian people. Their country covers an area of over 600.000 square kilometres and has more than fifty million inhabitants. In the north there are vast woods in the west one finds the picturesque Carpatian mountains and valleys and in the centre and the south Ukraine has its famous steppes with fertile black soil. The river Dnjepr divides the country in two forming a natural frontier between the western and eastern regions which each have their own distinctively different musical folklore. This diversity forms the musical basis for Ukrainian Rhapsody. The work consists of three movements: the first one in a moderatetempo without a pause flows into a slow but very expressive middle movement resulting in a powerful climax. The composition ends with the Gopak: a rousing dance.
