Was mir behagt ist nur die muntre Jagd BWV 208 Congratulatory Cantata for the Birthday of Duke Christian of Saxony-Weissenfels and of Duke Ernst August of Saxony-Weimar The hunting cantata the earliest secular cantata of Bach's which has come down to us was performed for the birthday of Duke Christian of Saxony-Weissenfels (23February) - according to most recent research very probably in the year 1713. It was later performed again for the birthday of Duke Ernst August of Saxony-Weimar (the co-regent of Duke Wilhelm Ernst). Bach's score employs taut musical forms; noteworthy - and entirely characteristic of Bach's early style - is the dominant role of the continuo in recitatives and arias. This work was written especially for the Belgian trombonist Ben Haemhouts and was created on Dec. 29 1998 in Ravels. Colors for trombone is a virtuous composition based on four colors Yellow Red Blue and Green. Each Color characterizes a typical musical quality. This masterpiece of Bert Appermont is undoubtedly a superb addition to the trombone repertoire!

To this day Eugène Bozza (1905-1991) remains one of the most prolific composers for wind instruments despite being a violinist himself. His Fourteen Arabesque Studies for Flute will enable the pupil to attain brilliant technique on the instrument. During his studies at the Paris Conservatoire Bozza won prizes for Violin conducting and composition as well as the Grand Prix de Rome. He then conducted the orchestra of the Opéra-Comique and became Head of the Conservatoire in Valenciennes whilst remaining a prominent composer. The studies in Bozza 's books prepare students for this most difficultrhythms and melodic writings. Furthermore Fourteen Arabesque Studies contain virtuosic exercises including range intervals embouchure breath control phrasing articulation performance directions dynamics and chromaticism among other aspects. Being Arabesques all Bozza 's studies are exploited with complex rhythms and ornamentation making for a unique and essential aid in the progression of advanced Flute studies.

Dvo ák ’s Serenade In E Major for String Orchestra is one of his most popular and frequently played works. It was written in the spring of 1875 when he had just experienced his first successes at the conductor’s podium and had received a state arts scholarship. The score and parts were published by Bote & Bock Berlin in 1879. This Urtext edition is based on the composer’s autograph score. It corrects mistakes found in the first edition and so for the first time the editor incorporates omitted passages from the autograph marking them with Vi-de. Cantata for the First Sunday of Advent- Nun komm der Heiden Heiland BWV 62 Cantata for the First Sunday of Advent Bach began two of his cantatas (BWV 61 and 62) - belonging to the Weimar and Leipzig periods respectively - with Martin Luther`s Advent hymn 'Nun komm der Heiden Heiland' a German version of the early church hymn 'Veni redemptor gentium'. The cantata can be described as a Choral Cantata typical of Bach's late creative period incorporating the older technical processes of polyphonic chorale settings as well as more modern solo movements. nach Gedichten von Hermann Hesse- After emigrating from Berlin at the age of 16 the Jewish composer Ursula Mamlok wrote Four German Songs in 1958 while studying at the Manhattan School of Music. Based on texts from Hermann Hesse's collection Vom Baum des Lebens the songs reflect the uprooting from home. Mamlok juxtaposes Hesse's melancholy with an intensive tonal image which proceeds from expressionism with short motifs and tonal transgression yet ventures into new spheres of expression.

This music sounds as if it came straight off the cinema screen. However there�s no movie for this fantastic score! Just like EVERY good film score this work also includes moving melodies fast virtuoso passages and last but not least a romantic love theme. The instrumentation takes into account that a group may not be complete and this means that the piece can be played by practically every orchestra. Highly recommended for concerts and competitions.

As written by Gerry Rafferty-Baker Street is a stop on the London underground also known as the Tube. Scottish guitarist Gerry Rafferty started his musical career deep underneath London’s streets busking at various stops. He finally made it big on the international scene with his song Baker Street. This hit also helped his album City to City sell over 4.5 million copies. Hans Thijssen has created an arrangement that captures the sounds of the subway and includes an optional solo for electric or bass guitar (also playable by the alto saxophone).

In Memory of Hubert Parry-At Sir Hubert Parry’s funeral in St. Paul’s Cathedral on October 16th 1918 a few of his friends made a small wreath of melodies which were woven together and played. The pieces in this book have been written and given by these friends and a few besides as a rather larger wreath in loving memory of him. The title of the book was suggested by the original heading on his own piece (which stands as the first of them) For The Little Organ Book .

Bach composed his oratorio for the Feast of the Ascension in Leipzig in 1735. Though this work has the duration of a cantata the choice of text places it among the oratorios. It combines the biblical account of the Ascension with chorales and free madrigal poems. As in other works which were composed during this same year (e.g. the Christmas Oratorio) Bach reveals a special fondness for colourful orchestration with two Flutes two Oboes threeTrumpets Timpani and Strings creating a splendid Baroque sound with a strikingly festive character. This edition is based on the thoroughly researched musical text from the New Bach Edition.

Earth Water Sun Wind is a four movement work with the unifying theme of these four elements. The music varies from being purely descriptive of the movements’ titles to specific sound painting - Earth for example is pure music and non programmatic whereas Sun attempts to paint a specific sound picture. The Symphony as a whole concerns itself with man’s relationship with these monumental aspects of nature.
