aus 'Der getreue Musikmeister' für Altblockflöte und Basso continuo- Score lightly realised with figured Bass: 2 playing scores (Recorder and Basso Continuo). 'Der getreue Musikmeister' (The faithful Music Master) occupies a special place in the history of musical publications since as far as we know it was the first regularly appearing musical periodical. A 'Lection' or lesson was published every two weeks in the form of a four-page leaflet presenting Vocal and Instrumental music in various scorings. Twenty-five of these leaflets are still extant today bound as a volume with a preface and index. The Recorder part of the Sonata in F major is notated throughout in the French Violin clef (g' on the first line). Thismethod of notation had become customary towards the end of the 17th century. It reduced the number of ledger lines necessary for the upper octave of the recorder which was frequently used at that time. The present edition omits arbitrary alterations of the musical text; the notation of this edition has only been altered to conform to modern conventions.

This set of three motets for unaccompanied male choir sets the Latin words for the De Profundis Ave Maria and Laudate and manifests Lewkovitch's fascination both with chant and with modality.Contemporary Danish composer conductor and Organist Bernhard Lewkovitch has followed a rare path among modern composers. From 1947 he was Organist at St Ansgars Kirches and later remained connected with the Catholic Church by working as an Organist. Clearly he is inspired by the Catholic liturgy and sees his great output of ecclesiastical music as a vocation and a great responsibility. For many years his work by inspired by Gregorian chant and was composed in church modes then inthe mid 1950’s he began to expand into modern bitonality and polytonality culminating in Il cantico delle creature in 1962/3 in which there was no conventional notation and no fixed pitch. After that Lewkovitch had somewhat of a hiatus later returning again to the inspirations of the mid1950’s. Cantata for Whit Tuesday- Er rufet seinen Schafen mit Namen (He calleth His own sheep each by name) BWV 175 Cantata for Whit Tuesday The text of the present cantata was written by Mariane von Ziegler and was set by Bach for the third day of Whitsun in the year 1725. Bach made considerable alterations to the text when setting it. The pastorale atmosphere is created by three recorders through the inkoduction of which the opening words from the scriptures become a charming accompagnato; it is followed by an alto aria in the same orchestration - a combination that Bach uses nowhere else. - Urtext of the New Bach Edition - Performance material (BA10175) vocal score (BA10175-90) & study score format 22.5 x 16.5cm (TP1175) available for sale
