Daisuke Shimizu is a true star in Japan and his renown is growing rapidly in our part of the world too. His compositions consist of melodies full of fantasy and stirring rhythms that appeal to the imagination. At first it sounds like the music for an adventure film and then turns introvert and romantic. The Spirit Of St. Louis is a highly spectacular and impressive composition!

Vivaldi achieved popularity throughout Europe with his collection L'estro armonico Op.3. He wrote the cycle which consists of twelve violin concertos (including Concerto Op.3 No.3 featured here) for the orchestra of the Ospedale della Pietà where he was teacher and director for many years. The two fast outer movements from opus 3/3 feature ritornelli combined with more virtuosic solo sections as was prevalent at the time. This ritornello form gives structure to the movements. It also gives the student who plays both the solo and tutti sections in this edition the opportunity to vary the returning motives interms of dynamics and ornamentation. In the short but expressive Largo distinct quarter notes alternate with patterns of sixteenth across all the strings. This allows the student to practise various bowing techniques.

Point commun à toutes ces formations : les cuivres très appréciés dans la région. L’idée de passer commande d’une marche solennelle est née sous l’impulsion de Luc Vleugels bourgmestre de la commune. Le compositeur devait se conformer à une seule exigence : créer une œuvre accessible aux douze formations musicales de la commune.Dès lespremières mesures le style est majestueux. Le thème principal est introduit par les registres médium et le climat musical se coule dans une facture noble. La ligne mélodique du trio est plus lyrique offrant un contraste d’atmosphère avec le final pétillant et imposant parfaitement à la hauteur de l’intérêt de l’événement : la célébration d’un millénaire.

pour Piano Cor Xylorimba Glockenspiel et Orchestre- Des Canyons Aux étoiles - Part 2 is the second part of this twelve-movement orchestral work by Olivier Messiaen . It features the movements VI and VII. This score was commissioned by Alice Tully for the celebration of the bicentenary of the USA Declaration of Independence and the whole piece lasts between 90 and 100 minutes. Messiaen got inspiration from sounds and colours and his travel to America highlighted by the Bryce Canyon very colourful really influenced his composition. Olivier Messiaen (1908-1992) was a French organist and composer who was passionate about Ornithology andone of the most important composers of his century. Inspired by Japanese music he had a very special way of composing and his work can be identified by its complexity its diatonic aspect its harmony with limited transposition its colour and its additive rhythms. He composed many works related to ornithology and birdsong including the Bird Catalogue in 7 volumes and the Treatise on rhythm colour and ornithology in 7 volumes.

G minor BWV 1058- In early 1729 Bach became director of the so-called »Scottish Collegium Musician« a music organization of students and local citizens. The remarkable results of this undertaking are the concertos for harpsichord. Today it is almost certain that practically all of these concertos were transcribed from concertos for melody instruments (mostly violin or oboe). The Concerto for Harpsichord and Strings in G minor BWV 1058 is the last complete work in the original autograph score of harpsichord concertos that Bach wrote out in or around 1738 (Berlin Staatsbibliothek Mus. Ms. Bach 234). However it only came to occupy this position later when the manuscript wasbound. It stands at the very outset of the genesis of this group of works and marks the earliest stage in Bach's efforts to transform concertos for melody instrument and strings into harpsichord concertos.
