Great Credo Mass- The Missa K.257 bears the non-authentic dating 1776 and was presumably composed at the end of 1776 or in the first half of 1777. Like K.262 (246a) it is designated in Leopold Mozart’s handwriting as a Missa longa on the cover page of an early composite manuscript containing the five masses in C major. K.257 is listed there as the last work. The designation “Missa longa” was intended to point out that this was an extensive full-scale mass. Normally it would have been called a Missa solemnis but Mozart for unknown reasons did not make use of this customary nomenclature. The name “Credo Mass” is taken from the acclamations of “Credo” that constantly interrupt thelike-named movement. The Mass is remarkable for its density of invention within the narrowest of confines. Further its instrumental accompaniment has an almost chamber-music quality that emerges time and again into almost symphonic proportions. The young Mozart composed three settings of the Regina coeli an ancient Latin Marian hymn of the Catholic church. K.276 in C major probably composed in 1779 in Salzburg is scored for SATB soloists SATB chorus Oboe (2) Trumpet (2) Strings (without Viola) Organ. Volume One of A Heritage Of 20th Century British Songs provides a wealth of wonderfully British tunes that also happen to be some of the best ever composed. The books aim to provide a diversity of songs for different types and ranges of voice although high voice tends to dominate with some top Gs.

Version For Solo Cello and Tape- Cello Counterpoint is scored for eight Cellos and can be played by a soloist with the other parts pre-recorded (This tape is available from the Boosey & Hawkes rental library.) Alternatively the piece can be played by a Cello Octet. (There are differences in the distribution of parts between the two versions.) The piece is in three movements: fast slow fast. The first and last movements are both based on a similar four-chord cycle that moves ambiguously back and forth between C minor and E-flat major. This harmonic cycle is treated extremely freely particularly in the third movement. The second slow movement is a canon in E-flat minorinvolving near the end of the movement seven separate voices. The piece is a little more than 11 minutes in duration and was co-commissioned by the Koussevitzky Foundation in the Library of Congress the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and Leiden University for Cellist Maya Beiser.

Triple Concerto- In Beethoven ’s Triple Concerto a Piano trio provides the soloists – a first in the history of music. Beethoven ’s treatment of the trio is pioneering: he does not apply a typical Piano trio setting in contrast to the orchestra but varies his treatment of the solo parts allowing each instrument to play alone with the Orchestra (particularly the Cello) using two solo instruments together in ever new combinations and finally bringing together all three instruments with the Orchestra. Beethoven weaves a complex web – the orchestral Piano Violin and Cello voices interplaying and entwining – and he produces a truemasterpiece. Bärenreiter’s new Urtext edition of Beethoven ’s Triple Concerto is a completely fresh revision of this warm and beautiful showpiece. Errors abounded in all previous editions but with the assistance of three newly-discovered sources editor Jonathan Del Mar has cleaned up the text corrected wrong notes and rhythms and (for the first time since 1807) presented the work in a way that a musician of Beethoven ’s day might have recognized with all necessary information for directing the piece included in the solo Piano part. Piano reduction with separate parts for all three soloists.

August lebe lebe König from Cantata 207a-A Festive Tribute is an arrangement of a splendid chorus whichBach first used in the secular Cantata 207 of 1726 but is perhapsbetter known in its later version which appears in Cantata 207a thedescriptively titled Auf schmetternde Töne der muntern Trompeten which cannot be adequately translated but means something alongthe lines of ‘let the trumpets sound’. While the lyrics are perhaps alittle obsequious much of the music for this cantata is celebratoryand lushly scored for a large orchestra including trumpets oboesd’amore and flutes making it an ideal piece for a concert bandarrangement.

Noah's Ark is a composition based on the well-known bible-storys in which Noah builds an ark to conquer the flood. This work portrays four impressions each of them introduced by a theme. To add dramatic power a synthesizer or a wind-machine can be used. The story can also be read by a narrator during the performance.
