Ballet in one act-Agnes de Mille suggested a cowboy ballet to the reluctant Ballet Russe. She said I dug in my heels and said I wanted the best American composer for the music Aaron Copland. Rodeo was an enormous success from the start. De Mille said I gave the performance of my life and got twenty-two curtain calls. Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy completed his first oratorio – St. Paul Op.36 – in 1836 at the age of twenty-seven. The first version which was premiered on 22 May 1836 was then extensively revised by the composer. This second version which at the same time served as the basis for the published version was premiered as early as October that year in Birmingham. The acclaim with which the oratorio was received was exceptional. Within eighteen months of completing the score Mendelssohn was able to list fifty performances of the work. Robert Schumann praised the work effusively and even Richard Wagner who later denigrated Mendelssohn was full of admiration. Today St. Paul belongs to the core repertoire of sacred choral music. This Urtext edition of the oratorio edited by the internationally-recognised Mendelssohn scholar Michael Cooper is based on all critical sources. As well as the principal version of the work the score also includes for the first time numbers which were composed for the first version and subsequently removed. This gives not only an insight into the history of the composition of the work but also with the complete performing material into the performance of the original version. Between 1996 and 2000 Bärenreiter published scholarly-critical editions of Beethoven's Nine Symphonies edited by the first class musicologist Jonathan Del Mar. The editorial process was a huge undertaking because of the complex source situation regarding Beethoven's Symphonies culminating in the Choral Symphony (No.9) which came down to us in nearly 20 different sources. Bamberg has a population of approximately 70.000 people a city not far from Bayreuth famous for its Bayreuth Festspiele. The River Regnitz the historic buildings and the famous orchestra Bamberg Symphoniker are the source of inspiration for A Bamberg Fantasy. Following the opening with its beautiful melodies played by different sections the mood suddenly changes into an allegro ritmico in the minor key with rythmical elements and dynamic harmonics. In the finale changes in time signature add a flowing character to this composition.

Inspiration was commissioned by the Solothurnischer Kanotonal Musikverband in Switzerland in 1993. The composition begins with an A-theme written in a Phrygian tonality and after an enormous climax moves on into a quicker B-section characterized by the use of wide interval jumps. Then follows the development in which both themes return individually and together. Peace and quiet is restored in the slow middle movement based on the B-theme. The movement comes to a close with a tutti B-theme brutally interrupted by fragments from the A-theme. Without a break the final movement of this contrastive piece develops from these fragments. The theme of this extremelyrhythmical closing movement is built up of elements from the A-theme whilst the B-theme (from the slow middle movement) returns in full once more. Before the piece comes to a close in a resounding fortissimo the cornet soloist performs the A-theme from the back of the auditorium to special effect.
