Based on the Complete Edition of the Works of Antonín Dvo ák volume IV/9. Composed in 1878 during the period when Antonín Dvo ák was beginning to become famous the String Sextet was Dvo ák 's first work to be premiered abroad and was given during a private event at the home of Joseph Joachim in Berlin in 1879. The Czech folk spirit is evident in the Sextet enriched by Dvo ák 's masterful compositional style with rich harmonies and melodies which resulted in this being the first of his chamber works to win international acclaim. This edition is based on the autograph copy as well as the first printed edition of 1879.

The setting of Psalm no. 42 op. 42 “Wie der Hirsch schreit nach frischem Wasser” (“As the hart pants after the waterbrooks”) for soloists mixed choir and full orchestra dates back to 1837. The well-known Mendelssohn specialist John Michael Cooper has evaluated the first printed edition of the score prepared by the composer himself as well as taking all other important sources into account. This Urtext edition is rounded off by a detailed critical commentary (Ger/Eng). The piano reduction is by Mendelssohn and is an authentic part of this edition. Great significance is attached to the Marian antiphons along with the cult of the veneration of the Virgin Mary. This two volume edition contains Latin settings of Marian antiphons from the 18th to the 20th century. The first volume already published contains settings of the Marian antiphon Salve Regina whilst the second volume contains the three other Marian antiphons and the Marian hymn Ave maris stella. These two volumes contain an anthology of works by Johann Michael Haydn Bruckner Gounod Dvorak Elgar Grieg Liszt Mendelssohn a.o. which have been arranged for medium voice and organ without compromising any of the originality of the pieces.

Spartacus is a Symphonic Tone Poem with 3 joints. Each section has its own melodical materials however: in the final movement the main theme from the second section returns in a 'grandioso'-tutti. The last bar but one recaptures the 'oriental' atmosphere of the very beginning. The first section (= from the beginning till J) builds up a climax by repeating and accumulating some melodical and rhythmical stuctures. The oriental character of the melodical fragments refers to the origin of the Roman slaves. The second section evokes the love between Spartacus and his loveby giving a peaceful atmosphere. The mean theme (presented the first time at letter L) has a broad andwide character and refers slightly to filmmusic. In this part of the composition a special attention is given to the orchestration. The final section is more agressive and martial and refers to the revolt of the slaves against the Roman oppressors. In the middle of this movement an accumulation of the 12 tones symbolizes the crucifixion of the slaves: the english horn resumes partly the cadenza of the flute (at letter J) as if he wants to show again the eternal love between Spartacus and his love a very last time ... The theme at the third bar of letter T is actually based on the 2nd theme of this section (which starts at the fifth bar of letter R) but has been worked out rhytmically.
