A journey through the history of classical music-This book of flute duets is a journey through the history of classical music for two players of a moderate standard. The pieces ordered chronologically according the composer’s year of birth take you from the 17th century all the way to the late 19th century via Purcell Haydn Schubert and Grieg.

The Trombone player's Vade Mecum was composed by André Lafosse for advanced trombonists who are preparing for their exams. Divided into three parts this piece covers all the necessary elements to prepare the exams: - The first one focuses on technical challenges: minor common chords melodic minor scales diminished sevenths high and low scales chromatic scales progressing in thirds - The second corresponds to a scale of an octave in semi-quavers each of its degrees being the starting point for an additional scale. Each scale is followed by its chords and the seven degrees and octave can be played bothdescending and ascending. This second part on its own represents 30 exercises of scales. - The last part is quite difficult with 25 exercises covering most of the other difficulties that could be encountered. These pieces are perfect to get ready and to overcome all the small weaknesses a player can have before a big contest or recital. André Lafosse (1890-1975) was a trombonist and a professor at Paris Conservatoire. He also composed a suite for brass quintet called 'Suite Breve' and recorded with Stravinsky.

Francis Poulenc (1899-1963) was an energetic French composer who is known for both his light-hearted instrumental works and his more serious sacred and choral music. Pastourelle was a dance written as one of ten movements for the children's ballet L'Eventail De Jeanne (Jean's Fan) in 1927. Each dance was composed by a different French composer. Only the first movement by Ravel who also gave the first performance of the Ballet on the Piano and Poulenc's eighth movement have endured. An orchestral version was composed at the same time but the original version for Piano is published here.

Eglogue Et Danse Pastorale is a piece for Alto Saxophone and Orchestra by Renée Corniot (1901 – 1972). Dedicated to Marcel Mule it lasts 14 minutes and can be played by advanced players. The first section is slower than the second half and the full piece will require a strong endurance to play some of the Saxophone pieces in the second part as it includes some fast rhythms some accidental notes and alterations and some trills. It would be a perfect work to perform for a recital or a contest.

2 Trompettes Ut-Cor-Trombone-Tuba-Ption Et Pties- Having won many prizes at the Paris Conservatoire during the 1920s-1930s Eugène Bozza went on to conduct the orchestra of the Opéra-Comique and to become Head of the Conservatoire in Valenciennes. As a major figure on the classical music frontline Bozza 's compositions were well-received by audiences Sonatina for Two Trumpets 1 Cornet 1 Trombone and 1 Tuba being no exception. This Bozza piece for brass is characteristically French with lyrical and graceful melodies contrasted by fast flourishing staccato semiquaver passages. As music educationalist Paul Griffiths has written of Bozza 'scompositions 'his works reveal melodic fluency elegance of structure and a consistenly sensitive concern of instrumental capabilities.' Comprising four movements Sonatina for Two Trumpets 1 Cornet 1 Trombone and 1 Tuba is an exciting alternative addition to the brass ensemble repertoire.

Edited by Howard Schott the book has its preface and information in French English and German. It features six Toccatas six Fantasias six Canzones 5 Suites and a partite. The works are of medium difficulty and can be played by intermediate players. Johann Jakob Froberger (1616-1667) is a German Baroque composer. He was a really famous musician amongst his peers and influenced many of them.

Chant Premier Op. 103 is a sonata for Tenor Saxophone and Piano by Marcel Mihalovici . Introduced by some verses by the Comte de Lautréamont this very melodious piece was dedicated to S.A.S the Prince Raigner III of Monaco and is perfect to be played in a contest or for a recital. It was commissioned by the French Cultural Council. Considered as hard this piece was initially written for Tenor Saxophone and Orchestra. This reduction starts Moderato with a tempo between 76 and 80 and requires the mastering of numerous technical aspects: trills glissandos accidentals and ornaments among others. The variousnuances make this piece really interesting and challenging to play. Marcel Mihalovici (1898-1995) was a French-Romanian born contemporary composer who produced numerous works including plays small operas sonatas and studies.

Twelve Studies by Eugène Bozza is a set of studies written for advanced Clarinet players. The first volume of Couperin 's Harpsichord Pieces does not contain a date of publication however it is thought to have been composed during 1716-1717 due to the address which the composer gave on his other Harpsichord compositions. Yet the compilation remains a favourite. François Couperin (1668-1733) is often nicknamed 'Couperin the Great' to distinguish him from other members of the musical family. Many of the composer's works have picturesque titles. Examples of this in his first volume of Pieces for Harpsichord include Les Papillons (The Butterflies) L'Enchanteresse (The Enchanting) and LesPlaisirs de Saint Germain en Laye (The Pleasures of Saint Germain en Laye). Couperin 's moods are expressed through choices of keys adventurous harmonies and discords. With a significant amount of variation and inspiration Pieces for Harpsichord is essential to the repertoire of aspiring players of the instrument.

This new publication of 25 Daily Exercises by Hyacinthe Klosé (1808-1880) has been revised by Marcel Mule (1901-2001). This set of exercises can be used by beginners as well as more intermediate/advanced players and is an absolute essential to develop your speed technique and articulations. Few directions are given in the book which leave you free to decide how to practise these 25 exercises: at different speeds with different articulations in the 12 different keys or without the octave keys. Cradle Song- Vuggesang / Cradle Song for Organ solo by Peter Bruun (2016). The piece is based on Martin Luther's hymn 'Vom Himmel Hoch'. Dedicated to Vibeke Vanggaard. ' Peter Bruun's cradle song Vuggesang is an inventive and refreshingly unconventional set of variations on 'Vom Himmel Hoch'. There are some fascinating textures here and the whole thing is a far cry from a dutiful neo-classical perusal of stock partita motifs - the crystalline final variation which disappears into nothing in the final bars is especially striking. Numerous rhythmic complexities throughout the score will need thought but the piece will reward thediligent .' - Stephen Farr Choir & Organ Magazine ' Organ music makes up only a small part of Danish composer Peter Bruun's (b. 1968) varied output. Nonetheless Vuggesang (Cradle Song') from 2016 is idiomatically and sympathetically written for the organ: a series of five variations on Luther's hymn Vom Himmel hoch that affords variety of texture colour and mood.
