A Child Of Our Time is probably Tippett's most celebrated work. It began life in 1938 when Tippett was searching for an appropriate subject for a full-scale oratorio which would be modelled on Handel's Messiah and Bach's Passions . With the Second World War and particularly the news of Kristallnacht in Nazi Germany the idea for A Child Of Our Time was born. He enriched the work with Negro spirituals the perfect modern equivalent to Bach's chorales. The result is an exultant assertion of compassion and brotherhood against all divisions of race or religion. This is the Vocal Score with Piano reduction.

En plus de soixante ans de carrière ce roi du swing - virtuose du vibraphone (dont il fut le premier jazzman à en faire un instrument soliste) - a joué avec la plupart des autres géants du jazz de Benny Goodman à Charlie Parker de Louis Armstrong à Miles Davis. A Tribute to Lionel est un hommage musical à cet artiste exceptionnel. La partie soliste a bien évidemment été confiée au vibraphone mais peut également être interprétée par la clarinette.

The animals are preparing for theirlong winter hibernation so the little green frog decides to give a harvest party but things almost go terribly wrong. In the end the frog learns to say 'thank you' and his friends learn that wrongly lit fires can be verydangerous indeed!
