Great Organ Mass Hob. XXII:4- Mass in E-flat major (Great Organ Mass) Hob.XXII:4 In honorem Beatissimae Virginis Mariae Following his Jugendmesse from 1749 church music played only a secondary role in Haydn's creative output. It was not until 1766 with the Cäcilienmesse and again in 1768-69 with the Great Organ Mass that Haydn returned to this genre of composition. This Mass in E-flat major belongs to the same period as the Sturm-und- Drang symphonies. Some of the remarkable features of this period are reflected here in the expansion of expression combinedwith a new very original musical language. The score also contains the traditional Viennese trumpet and timpani parts although it is extremely unlikely that they stem from Haydn . As Haydn at least tolerated these parts the performance material contains both the original as well as the expanded versions. - Hadyn's 'Sturm-und-Drang' Mass - Performable in both versions - Clear and straightforward vocal score - Urtext from Joseph Haydn Werke - Full score parts (BA4646) and vocal score (BA4646-90) available for sale

Trois Esquisses Symphoniques- Claude Debussy 's La Mer is an impressionistic work through and through. The three symphonic sketches that make up the work were composed between 1903-1905 however Debussy refined this work up until at least 1913. These corrections are found in a score which the composer gave to his wife as a present for her private library in 1913. The new scholarly-critical edition draws on several important sources previously unavailable to musicologists resulting in an array of new readings and corrections. In addition there are many changes especially in terms of articulation and dynamics. This new edition includes the famous “fanfare” inMovement III clearly marked in small print and brackets. This fanfare was excised in the 1910 reissue of the work but was reinstated by a number of great conductors who knew Debussy i.e. Monteux Münch Mitropoulos and Ansermet. They felt that the excision was a misunderstanding and that the fanfare was necessary for the structure of the movement. And so the Bärenreiter edition presents the revival of a performing tradition which is committed to the fanfare. New Urtext edition with numerous corrections in comparison to other editions. Important sources which were previously inaccessible have been taken into account. Score and orchestral parts in large format (25.5 x 32.5cm). Score and orchestral parts with an impeccable generous layout. Includes an informative introduction (Eng/Fr/Ger) facsimiles source descriptions and a Critical Commentary (Eng).

Ludwig Van Beethoven's Piano sonatas comprise a wealth of musical expression ranging from subdued and unpretentious to magnificently impassioned. Sonata quasi una Fantasi or Moonlight Sonata Op.27 No.2 is one of the most popular and most-often performed pieces ever written. Like many of Beethoven's works this sonata reflects the depth of his musical power. From its quiet yet moving beginning to its passionate finale it is easy to see why this piece is so popular. This complete version of the sonata has been edited by Willard A. Palmer and also contains a background to the piece and Beethoven's conventions and writing.

Rachel Stott's Serendipity And Household for Piano Quintet. Serendipity And Household Objects grew out of various sound experiments I made together with violin and viola pupils I was teaching at the time. The idea was to find some extended timbral possibilities of the children’s instruments using only such objects as one might reasonably expect to find around the house – a comb or ruler empty yoghurt pot cutlery pieces of paper chopsticks – rather along the lines of the television programme ‘the great egg race’ which I used to enjoy as a child. The word ‘serendipty’ (‘the happy knack of making unexpected and delightful discoveries by accident’ –Cassell Concise Dictionary) describes the way the finding of the sounds led to musical ideas. A curious point – some of the sounds actually work better on basic level children’s instruments than professional quality ones. Don’t waste this piece on a strad…or vice versa. - Rachel Stott Commissioned by Jean Horsfall
