POD-Nico Muhly's Pulses Cycles Clouds for large mixed Percussion ensemble was written for the 50th anniversary of the Boston University Tanglewood Institute. At its core it is a group of four marimbas surrounded by various bells and other mallet instruments; unpitched instruments here are primarily played by an ensemble of amateur percussionists. The piece obsesses over a cycle of eleven chords introduced slowly through the beginning of the piece. Each chord is announced by a large vertical moment with bells vibraphone and a sudden shift in tonality. The four marimbas then relax into a series of soft interlocking patterns over which an ensemble of glockenspiels and crotalesplays a simple rhythm in a complex relationship to the other instruments. Eventually the pulse disintegrates entirely into a vision of a night sky; insects unexpected interruptions - a walk around a quiet landscape. Eventually the pulse returns but nocturnally subdued. The piece is meant to echo in its way the thrill of community music making the joy of sharing a pulse and the various connections both rhythmic and interpersonal I made at BUTI two decades ago. - Nico Muhly Nico Muhly 's Pulses Cycles Clouds for large mixed Percussion ensemble was written for the 50th anniversary of the Boston University Tanglewood Institute. This new edition indicates that Mozart’s popular composition is a mature work dating from his time in Vienna contrary to previous assumptions and that the traditional ending does not correspond to the original version. The well-known closing bars which have of course been included in this edition were not in fact written by Mozart himself but probably by August Eberhard Müller who thereby shaped the piece to stand on its own. Mozart’s manuscript version however as documented in the first edition ends ten bars earlier on a dominant seventh chord leaving the way open for further development and making it conceivable that the Fantasie was originally written as anintroduction to a sonata in D major (to another of the late sonatas K 576 in fact). With this information the edition adds a totally new dimension to the performance of this widely known piece.

It is his shortest symphony and considered by many to be his least serious. Aside from a few sombre moments the symphony is optimistic in mood and displays Vaughan Williams ' love for exotic and colourful combinations of instruments with a percussion section that he said employs 'all the 'phones and 'spiels known to the composer'. Philip Moore 's Paean (2010) for Organ. Duration: approx. 2 1/2 minutes. 'Every bar of philip Moore's Paean is beautifully considered.' - Geoffrey Webber of choirandorgan.com 'This cheerful piece by Philip Moore is another work extracted from the Organists' Charitable Trust Little Organ Book. As ever with one of the UK's finest composers of traditional modern' organ music the work is literate idiomatic and pleasing to the ear. Making only moderate technical demands yet being full of colour and character this would be an excellent voluntary or recitalwork for any organist.' Sunday By Sunday December 2017
