Besides being an influential and prolific composer Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) was one of the great teachers of his day. He was a dedicated master of the keyboard always exploring and expanding his knowledge of the instrument. Technique was of paramount significance to Bach and he was always developing exercises to improve his students’ playing. Bach developed those exercises into the pieces presented in 18 Short Preludes . However these compositions are more than keyboard exercises. They are light airy fun works that reflect Bach’s love of the short simple prelude form. They provide the beginning student with an excellent introduction to the genius ofJ.S. Bach. This edition was carefully and methodically prepared by Willard A. Palmer. An introductory section offers a thorough explanation of trills mordents appoggiaturas and other proper ornamentation applicable to these preludes. This feature helps make this edition of Bach’s 18 Short Preludes the most practical and attractive one available.

Between 1996 and 2000 Bärenreiter published scholarly-critical editions of Beethoven 's Nine Symphonies edited by the first class musicologist Jonathan Del Mar. The editorial process was a huge undertaking because of the complex source situation regarding Beethoven 's Symphonies culminating in the Choral Symphony (No.9) which came down to the publisher in nearly 20 different sources. So it was not surprising that Bärenreiter's new Urtext edition caused a considerable stir in the music world. Since publication Del Mar's edition enjoys the unabashed praise of conductors performers and critics alike and has become the most widely used publication ofthe Beethoven Symphonies which can be heard not only every day in concert halls but also on CD recordings by John Eliot Gardiner David Zinman Jos van Immerseel and Claudio Abbado. In Pavane the base line which runs throughout the entire piece forms the leitmotiv. This special work unfurls slowly and is based on chords that are reminiscent of Bach or Scarlatti. Towards the middle it builds up a climax that disappears in exactly the same manner as it began.

In the winter of 1932 Duke Ellington; consummate jazz pianist composer and orchestrator; released It Don't Mean A Thing (If it ain't Got That Swing) which included live vocals by Ivie Anderson. A significant work that marked a shift in the fashionable style from the Hot Jazz of the 1920s to the Swing music of the 1930s. The song went on to define the era and became one of his biggest and most successful hits. This popular tune is supplied here with vocal arrangements for full mixed SATB choir with Piano accompaniment.

A Ballet for the Endangered Species- Dance of the Whale was commissioned by the Spanish music foundation Musica et Orbi at the instigation of its president Frank De Vuyst. It is part of a unique project which involved nine composers each writing a short movement describing ananimal of the composers’ choice to form a suite called Bestiarium . A consortium of bands around the world helped to fund the project and the world premiere of the suite took place in March 2013 in Medellín Colombia. Dance of the Whale uses the tenor instruments of the band to describe a lazy and graceful dance by a blue whale and is dedicated to endangered species around the world.

Jubiloso was commissioned by Utsunomiya Brass Society a talented and versatile group of brass players whom Philip Sparke has conducted on many occasions. When they asked him to compose a ‘signature’ march to celebrate their 30th anniversary they asked for a bright and breezy march which they could use to open concerts. Jubiloso is in the same ‘Broadway’ style as Sparke’s Slipstream and The Bandwagon with heavily syncopated melodies and the conventional cantabile trio section but also contains sudden bars with unusual time signatures which trip up the march rhythm.

Mozart 's only Te Deum K141 was probably composed in Salzburg at the end of 1769 and is modelled almost exactly on Michael Haydn's Te Deum of 1760. In the 1950 motion picture Quo Vadis starring Robert Taylor and Peter Ustinov still is one of the greatest movies in the history. The music was composed by Miklos Rosza. The Hail Nero - Triumphal March beautifully arranged by Steven Verhaert gives an impression of the greatness of the Roman empire in the days of Emperor Nero.

Chorus Part- Yanomamo is an ecological musical for soloists chorus narrator and musical accompaniment. Yanomamo vividly tells of the destruction of the Amazon Rainforest and its effect on the Yanomamo the oldest Indian tribe living there. They lead a way of life in harmony with nature which undisturbed would survive with the forest indefinitely. However their existence and that of millions of animals and plant species is threatened by the arrival of outsiders who assume that the forest soil is permanently rich and that once the trees are cleared the land will be very productive. But after two years no crops will grow because the richness of the jungle is in thetrees not in the soil. The delicate balance of nature is being systematically removed and soon the rainforests which are crucial to the world's eco-system will disappear together with the Indians and the wildlife. Is there the time or the will to save them? Yanomamo was filmed as Song Of The Forest and shown in Channel 4's Fragile Earth series narrated by Sting. A Suite of British and Irish Folk Songs- Songs from Across the Water was commissioned by Pennsylvania Symphonic Winds - Phil Evans Founder and Director. Phil Evans hails from the UK and served for 25 years in the Band of HM Royal Marines. Now resident in the USA he founded Pennsylvania Symphonic Winds in 2008 giving them the tag line ‘An American Band with a British Accent’ as he wanted to combine the best of both countries’ band traditions. With this in mind composer Philip Sparke decided to create a suite of British folk songs scored with an American influence to fulfil the philosophy of the band’s tag line. The three movements which are played without a break are based on the following folk songs which come from all corners of the British Isles: The Three Ravens & The Cruiskeen Lawn The Lark in the Clear Air and The Piper o’ Dundee & Men of Harlech .
