Conceived for beginners and written in 1921 André Lafosse 's Complete method of Slide Trombone - Volume 1 is an introductory method with comments and explanation for Slide Trombone. Including various exercises and studies this complete method will also guide the player with the right positions to adopt and direct him to produce a clean sound on the instrument. Complete method of Slide Trombone has been written in three volumes the first two in 1921 and the last one in 1946 and the Bass Trombone is covered in an appendix of three pages. André Lafosse (1890-1975) was aTrombonist and a professor at Paris Conservatoire. He also composed a suite for brass quintet called 'Suite Breve' and recorded with Stravinsky.

Jean-Pierre Couleau (b. 1948) studied at the Aix-en-Provence Marseille and Versailles Conservatoires before devoting himself to teaching music particularly jazz. He compiled Time for Music Education in 1984. The first volume contains exercises on note names note values sight-singing rhythm dynamics phrasing articulation time signatures and performance directions among other aspects. Couleau 's first volume of Time for Music Education is ideal for all beginners of music theory.
