In our present version the right hand of the harpsichordist takes over one of the concertante parts. Only when this part rests does the harpsichord fulfill the function of a thoroughbass. This edition was based an the autograph and an copies by Westphal a friend of the composer. The score reproduces the Urtext thus maintaining the characteristic features of C. P. E. Bachs writing. Kyrie and Gloria- Missa brevis (BuxWV 114) for Mixed choir SSATB and Basso continuo Dietrich Buxtehude (1637-1707) was Organist of the St Marien church in Lubeck from 1668 until his death. He wrote many works for specific secular occasions feasts and celebrations etc. and although his positon did not require him to compose vocal music he left over 120 vocal works in a wide range of scorings style and length. Almost all texts are sacred and scorings vary from a single voice with instrument to nine voices with several instruments and continuo. The Missa brevis is written in the 'Stile antico' following 16th century models and consistsof the Kyrie and Gloria of the Ordinarium.

Internationally acclaimed French composer Henri Dutilleux (1916-2013) followed the music traditions of Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy yet implemented his own distinctive style. His Sarabande et Cortege for Bassoon and Piano displays influences of Debussy 's eschewing of tonality and Ravel 's inventive textures. These combined with Dutilleux 's unique uses of structure and pedal points create a truly riveting piece for Bassoon and Piano. Sarabande et Cortege comes at the beginning of Dutilleux 's career and was composed as part of a set of fourexam pieces for the Paris Conservatoire (1942-1950). Yet the popularity of all four pieces remains and they continue to be performed to this day. Elements like lyrical melodies and furious semiquaver passages make for an exciting piece for bassoonists.

Flying the Breeze opens with three repeated B's (representing the initials of the Breeze Brass Band from Japan who commissioned this work). A short introduction leads to a robust theme from the baritones and euphoniums which is taken up by cornets and trombones. A restless bridge passage leads to a syncopated tune from the solo cornet and then to a third theme from a solo trombone. A graceful second subject leads back to a recall of the introductory material before a full-scale recapitulation. An intense allargando leads to a full-band version of the second subject under a running cornet passage which leads to a short coda.
