Violoncello- Based on the Henle Complete Edition of the Works of Joseph Haydn Orchestral parts in a large format (25.5 x 32.5 cm) Full score and orchestral parts available for sale Haydn 's Symphonies no.90 91 and 92 were commissioned in 1788 by Prince Kraft Ernst von Oettingen-Wallerstein who was to be granted exclusive ownership. Haydn however first sold the works to the Parisian Masonic lodge Société Olympique and was thus unable to fulfil his obligation to send the autograph scores to the prince. Haydn 's Symphony No.92 received its nickname “Oxford” in the 19th century probably in connectionwith a performance that took place when the composer received an honorary doctorate from Oxford University in 1791. This edition continues the collaboration between Bärenreiter and the Henle publishing company regarding Haydn’s large-scale choral works operas and symphonies. It is based on the Henle Complete Edition of the Works of Joseph Haydn. Bärenreiter has published the complete performance material for several Sturm und Drang symphonies and all of the London and Paris symphonies.

Although Cesar Franck won many prizes during his student days his music was generally unrecognised by his contemporaries. His pieces were written in the romantic style whilst retaining a classical structure and his later compositions were referred to as 'cathedrals of sound'. Panis Angelicus is poetic and almost serene and this arrangement by Philip Sparke retains all of the beauty of the original.

Elegy for Band-The initial idea was for a millennium piece which it is but rather than add to the many celebratory pieces that have understandably been written to salute the 3rd millennium Philip Sparke thought it would perhaps be appropriate to think about the aspects of life that are constantly with us (such as faith and philosophy) rather than the exciting changes that the year 2000 has undeniably wrought. This calm meditative work will bring a moment of serenity and reflection to any concert.

MASQUERADE was commissioned by Stadtmusik Willisau from Switzerland (Reto Güdel conductor) to celebrate their 175th anniversary in 2003 and first performed by them in November that year. 1. OvertureThe first movement opens with a fanfare-like figure featuring the brass before the main them is introduced over staccato chords. After a short syncopated interlude a legato theme is introduced in the tenor register and material is developed until the music slows temporarily. The opening theme returns and the ‘tenor’ tune is taken up by the whole band until the opening fanfare returns to close the movement. 2. ElegyThe slow movement opens intensely with a bare two-part theme whichleads to a passionate chorale-style melody. A second theme is introduced and leads to a climax a return of the chorale theme and a pianissimo repeat which again leads to a full-band climax. The two-part theme returns quietly to create a peaceful close. 3 InterludeA short movement which changes the mood to introduce:- 4 FinaleThree violent chords preface a lively syncopated opening theme. The trumpets introduce a second idea which is treated fugally and this in turn leads to the main melodic idea of the movement over staccato chords. A contrasting subject is then introduced in the middle of the band followed by echoes of the first movement fanfare. The opening theme returns and material is revisited until the opening fanfare returns in full to end the work triumphantly.

An informative preface and critical commentary by Ales Brezina and Ivan Straus (Cz / Ger / Engl / Fr) - A new practical edition at the forefront of Martinu scholarship - All existing sources consulted. The String Quartet no. 6 by Bohuslav Martinu (1890-1959) represents a distinct step on the journey which the composer characterised as his development from geometry to fantasy and for which the almost continuous use of the principle of developing variations restless harmonic development the pulsation of minute rhythmic values and inventive work with sound are characteristic. The quartet which was written in New York in the autumn of 1946 constitutes the beginning of the composer's later works in which moods freely overflow regardless of any predefined formal layout. The editors of the new edition (based on the composer's autograph) have carefully removed all of the problematic and somewhat arbitrary editorial intervention in the sole existing edition dating from 1950 (actually 1955). With its urtext edition of the 6th quartet Editio Bareneriter Praha has continued in its series of new publications of works by Bohuslav Martinu - quartets nos. 4 and 5 have already been published for this instrumental line-up.

BWV 10- Now My Soul Exalts The Lord BWV 10: Cantata for the Feast of Visitation B. V. M. With his cantata Meine Seel Erhebt Den Herren which Bach composed for the Visitation of Mary (2 July) he created a Magnificat setting of a different kind: The German text source is a combination of biblical text and a free interpretation the basis being the Marian hymn of praise from the Gospel according to Luke. The 9th psalm tone acts as the chorale melody and becomes a recurring musical theme. With a small scoring of one trumpet (which if need be can be omitted) two oboes strings and basso continuo along with four soloists and choir Bach succeeds in writing a festive music of 20-25 minutes. This performing edition is based on the Urtext of the New Bach Edition.
