Quartet by Pierre Max Dubois is a piece for four Saxophones also known as Concertino initially composed for four Saxophones and a String Orchestra. The scores for all Saxophones are part of this edition with a set of all four Saxophones scores. It is considered as difficult it requires strong endurance and a good technique. Andante Pierre Max Dubois (1930-1995) is a French composer who was awarded the Prix de Rome in 1955. Mainly composing classical music hisworks are mainly for woodwinds. He is one of the founder of Les Six which included his professor Darius Milhaud.

In this arrangement Georges Moreau wanted to stay as close to the original as possible. He has given the passionate aspect of the melody absolute priority and it is supported by a straightforward accompaniment.

Dvorák’s Symphony No. 7 was commissioned by the “Royal Philharmonic Society” in August 1883 and received its premiere on 22 April 1885 in London conducted by the composer himself. The following June the second movement was shortened by some 40 bars and the work was published in this form in 1885 by Simrock.The editor of this new scholarly-critical edition is Jonathan Del Mar who has gained an international reputation for his edition of Dvorák’s cello concerto in B minor (BA 9045) not to mention his editions of works by Beethoven and Elgar. As the title suggests this Sonatine interprets musical elements of sport. With this in mind Tcherepnine 's Sonatine is a highly amusing energetic and fun piece to play for saxophonists. Russian born composer Alexandre Tcherepnine (1899-1977) moved to Paris with his family in 1921 following the increasingly hostile political environment in Russia. During WWII Tcherepnine 's composing activities virtually stopped. However just before doing so he composed his Sonatine Sportive . The first movement interprets boxers with pulsating quavers in the piano partrepresenting a defence. Movement two suggests a rest that the two players take before the 'racing' third movement written in the form of a canon. With such stimulating and imaginative creativity Tcherepnine 's Sonatine is essential to the saxophonist's repertoire.

French composer Pierre Max Dubois (1930-1995) significantly contributed to the woodwind repertoire particularly for Saxophone. Having studied the Flute with virtuosos Paul Taffanel Adolphe Hennebains and Philippe Gaubert at the Paris Conservatoire Marcel Moyse (1889-1984) soon became a virtuoso of the instrument himself. His editions of Soussmann's 24 Daily Studies for Flute is one of many popular study books compiled by the renowned flautist. During his career Moyse frequently played solo Flute with many orchestras including performing the main concertos of the repertory. As well as performing and composing Moyse was responsible for the training of a brilliant generation of flautists at the Paris Conservatoire. Following WWI thecomposer moved to the United States where he continued to perform compose and teach. It is during his time in the USA that Moyse composed his extensive number of instructive books on instrumental technique including Soussmann's 24 Daily Studies which today remain universally accepted and popular. Moyse 's book is essential to all aspiring advanced flautists.
