1725- “A mendicant woman from the Haynstrasse aged 59 years Anna Magdalena née Wilckin widow of Mr. Johann Sebastian Bach cantor at the St. Thomas School” – thus reads the entry dated 29 February 1760 in the Leipzig 'Ratsleichenbuch” (City Register of Deaths) for a woman whose name has become known throughout the world thanks to the two music books put together for her by Johann Sebastian Bach. Bach himself opened the book with two of the large Partitas subsequently published in the first part of the 'Clavierübung”; the rest of the contents was determined by Anna Magdalena. On the whole these are short pieces of “galanterie”: minuets polonaises marches compositions by the elder children and attempts by the younger ones little pieces which she copied out of the family guest book and which had been written there more or less as tokens of friendship by the many visitors in the Bach home. - Urtext of the New Bach Edition - Edition with fingering also available BA5242 - Bibliophile performing edition hardback BA5115

Missa Pro Defunctis- Cherubini owes his fame as a church composer primarily to the Requiem in C minor of 1817. It was held in extraordinarily high esteem by such composers as Beethoven and Schumann and served as a model for early 19th-century Requiem settings. Dispensing entirely with solo voices it captivates with its rigorous formal concentration and its restrained use of musical resources in both Choir and Orchestra. This Urtext edition takes into account not only the autograph score with spartitino (additional instruments written in by hand) but also the first edition and a copyist’s manuscript. Rounding off this exemplary Urtext publication is an informativeIntroduction and a Critical Commentary (Eng).

Triple Concerto- In Beethoven ’s Triple Concerto a Piano trio provides the soloists – a first in the history of music. Beethoven ’s treatment of the trio is pioneering: he does not apply a typical Piano trio setting in contrast to the orchestra but varies his treatment of the solo parts allowing each instrument to play alone with the Orchestra (particularly the Cello) using two solo instruments together in ever new combinations and finally bringing together all three instruments with the Orchestra. Beethoven weaves a complex web – the orchestral Piano Violin and Cello voices interplaying and entwining – and he produces a truemasterpiece. Bärenreiter’s new Urtext edition of Beethoven ’s Triple Concerto is a completely fresh revision of this warm and beautiful showpiece. Errors abounded in all previous editions but with the assistance of three newly-discovered sources editor Jonathan Del Mar has cleaned up the text corrected wrong notes and rhythms and (for the first time since 1807) presented the work in a way that a musician of Beethoven ’s day might have recognized with all necessary information for directing the piece included in the solo Piano part. Piano reduction with separate parts for all three soloists. Draws on three new sources. Correction of many errors found in previous editions.

Erbarme Dich mein Gott from St Matthew Passion- Have Mercy Lord from J.S. Bach’s St Matthew Passion is one of the most beautiful arias from the baroque period. In Philip Sparke’s arrangement it is envisaged that the soloists stand together as a group stage right while the other musicians stand behind to form the tutti group. This piece is easily playable for both the soloists and the band and will create a beautiful moment of reflection whether performed on the concert stage or in a church.

for Pianoforte and Orchestra op. 37- Beethoven ’s Piano Concerto No.3 is the only concerto where no authentic manuscript exists for the solo part. The autograph of the score is available whereby the articulation dynamics and pedal markings are for the most part absent. However Beethoven oversaw the first printed edition of the solo part (1804) with great diligence. Plate corrections bear witness to the care with which Beethoven placed slurs and pedal markings in order to be consistent and unambiguous. By means of a thorough examination of the sources this new Urtext edition presents many corrections in terms of articulation dynamics and notes. Inparticular the orchestral parts have been corrected for the first time since Beethoven’s lifetime. Piano reduction with a separate solo Piano part. A must for pianists orchestras and Beethoven scholars.
