Haydn’s “Farewell Symphony” is one of the most frequently played works of the symphonic repertoire. The popular title did not derive from the composer but refers to the final movement at the end of which (Adagio) the musicians stop playing one after the other leaving only two violins to end the work. According to an anecdote the musicians’ exit was a means of making reference to the demands of orchestral work at Esterháza at the end of the season. The publication of Haydn’s “Sturm und Drang” Symphonies – the Farewell Symphony and Symphony No. 48 (the so-called “Maria Theresia” Symphony) – represents a continuation of the cooperation between Bärenreiter and theHenle publishing company for editions of larger choral works operas and symphonic works. The publications are based on the Henle “Complete Edition of the Works of Joseph Haydn”. Gottfried Finger (1656-1730). The production of Gottfried Finger (cca 1656-1730) the native of Olomouc includes many sonatas and trio sonatas for a variety of melody instruments and basso continuo. Many of these compositions were published within Finger 's lifetime. Sonata In F Major was published as a part of the collection of ten sonatas for Recorder and Basso Continuo op 3. in Amsterdam around the year 1700. It was edited and the Basso Continuo was elaborated by Miloslav Klement.

This beautiful chorale illustrates the winter solstice the longest night of the year. Describing the end of nature’s cycle it has a rather melancholic character until the final chord which symbolises the new beginning. This contemplative work isideal for creating a moment of tranquillity during a concert and is also suitable as a warm-up piece.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart 's (1756-1791) Flute Concerto in G was written by the composer in 1778. The Concerto remains widely studied and performed on the Flute making it one of the most important Concerti in the instrument's repertoire. Concerto in G is in three movements; 1. Allegro maestoso 2. Adagio ma non troppo and 3. Rondo: Tempo di Menuetto. The first and last movements are in the tonic key whilst the second movement is in the subdominant key of D major. A Dutch flautist of the time Ferdinand de Jean commissioned Mozart for four Flute quartets and three Flute concerti. However thecomposer who famously disliked the Flute only completed three quartets and two concertos. Instead of composing a second concerto Mozart rearranged his Oboe Concerto with substantial changes for it to fit with the Flute. This edition of Mozart 's Concerto in G includes cadences by virtuosos Taffanel Gaubert and Bozza making for an unmissable version of the famed work.

kleine Stücke für Klavier- This cycle of Piano pieces occupies an exceptional position among the other compositions from Bohuslav Martinu's early period. In view of the musical and aesthetic challenges this work presents the cycle Puppets goes beyond the other pieces from this period which broadly speaking are didactic in nature and designed for the purposes of study. Martinu wrote the cycle between the years 1912-1925 and during this time he reworked and changed the pieces to the extent that Puppets I chronologically comes after Puppets III which is the earliest in the series. The third book (Puppets I) dates from 1925 and contains fiveshort pieces: Columbine Dances The New Puppet The Shy Doll Fairy Tale and finally The Puppets' Dance. Puppets I-III are a joy to play while providing a worthwhile source of study material and are an essential part of the repertoire of young pianists. Gabriel Pierné (1863-1937) was a French composer conductor and organist. Despite being predominantly remembered as a conductor his Solo De Concert remains a recognised piece in the Bassoon repertoire. Pierné studied at the Paris Conservatoire before taking up the position of chief conductor for the concert series Concerts Colonne in 1910. He remained in the post until 1933 and during this time he notably conducted the world premiere of Igor Stravinsky 's The Firebird . Pierné composed for a variety of instruments Concert Solo for Bassoon being one offour solo works by the composer. This Pierné piece for Bassoon contains many characteristics typical of the French style such as significant tempo changes and performance directions flourishes of semiquavers chromaticism and many alterations in dynamics. Concert Solo is a varied piece essential to the repertoire of aspiring bassoonists.
