for youth choir with parts for SSA highs middles and lows (for boys' changing voices) This is a magical setting of a profound and impressionistic text by the contemporary poet A. D. Hope which describes the burgeoning of the soul as though the heart itself is 'singing' from within the body. Chilcott creates a pulsing hypnotic soundscape which mirrors this sentiment. It is a striking concert work which caters imaginatively for the particular demands of youth choirs. This is a magical setting of a profound and impressionistic text by the contemporary poet A. D. Ed Hughes ' Sky Blue for solo Clarinet and Orchestra. A4 study score. ' This concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra is approximately eight minutes long. It was composed especially for Alison Hughes (clarinettist) and the University of Sussex Symphony Orchestra. Sky Blue is inspired by a painting of the same name made in 1940 by Wassily Kandinsky in which figures appear to float free across a clear blue sky. The painting has been described (by Mona Molarsky 2009) as 'an ethereal Miró-like confection with biomorphic squiggles that buzz like glimmering insects in the afternoon sun'. The music is a continuous single movement with moments of harmonic transparency contrasting withsections of greater modal complexity. There are some sections which also feature soloists in the orchestra perhaps like the free-floating figures in Kandinsky's painting. Beethoven wrote his three Sonatas opp. 10 in 1795/98 and dedicated them to Countess von Browne-Camus. Compared with the Sonatas opp. 2 the composer takes another notable step forward with them both with respect to piano technique as well as to the treatment of the sonata movement form. The opening movement of the first sonata presented here recalls Mozart’s “Great” c minor K. 457. Perhaps his most emotional slow movement up to that time the Adagio molto ends with an exuberant assertive Prestissimo. The Piano Sonata No. 5 in C Minor (Op.10 No.1) was written in 1798 and dedicated to Anna Margarete von Browne the wife of a Russian diplomat who was Beethoven's main patron at the time. One of his earlierworks it is in three movements: Allegro molto e con brio - Adagio molto - Prestissimo . Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 - 1827) was a German composer and pianist and arguably the most famouscomposer of all time. He was the last great figure of the Classical era and helped pave the way for the Romantic style that followed. His compositions include 9 Symphonies 5 Piano Concertos 1 Violin Concerto 32 Piano Sonatas and 16 String Quartets.
