Clarinet & Piano-This substantial new work is based on the standard three-movement format of a classical concerto but this is where the similarity ends. The opening movement contains much syncopation and is in an almost rag-like style. The contrasting second movement is full of emotion with lush harmonies in the piano accompaniment. Jazz reappears in the final movement which is almost bee-bop in style and shows off the jazzier side of the clarinet. This fantastic new work is a must for any clarinet recital.

Set Wind Instruments- Dvorák’s Violin Concerto was composed between 1879 and 1882 with the active assistance of Joseph Joachim and was issued by the publisher Fritz Simrock Berlin in 1883. Its premiere took place in October of that same year with František Ondrícek as soloist. This new Urtext edition is based on the first edition (score solo Violin part Piano reduction and orchestral parts). It also takes Dvorák’s autograph which served as a master copy for the engraving into consideration. A fresh assessment of Dvorák’s manuscript made it possible to reconstruct several variants ignored in the first and subsequent editions and toclarify ambiguities in the notation and articulation. An important component of our Urtext edition is the original Piano reduction which probably stems from Dvorák himself and in which Joseph Joachim’s fingering is published. First Urtext edition of the original Piano reduction Variants in the solo part rendered as ossia passages Foreword on the work’s genesis (Ger/Cz/Eng) and detailed Critical Commentary (Eng) by the editor

The decade between Edward Elgar’s marriage in 1889 and the publication of his famous Nimrod Variations in 1899 was possibly the happiest period of his life: he was comfortably settled into family life but the burdens of national fame had not yet begun to take their toll. His beautiful and haunting composition The Snow dates from this time: as a relatively unknown composer he was free to work on what he liked and the growing popularity of competitive choral festivals led him to write a series of part-songs of which this is undoubtedly the best-loved and most performed today. The words come from a poem by his wife Alice and the workhas been arranged here by the composer for two Sopranos two Violins and the Piano.

For Saxophone- 100 Ultimate Blues Riffs for Eb Alto Saxophone the Beginner Series by musician educator and world renowned author Andrew D. Gordon is an exhaustive guide to introduce beginner students to the various phrases or “riffs” that make up Blues sax playing both from a rhythmic and soloing standpoint. Due to the continued success of his more advanced book 100 Ultimate Blues Riffs for Eb Alto Andrew decided to author a similar type of book for beginner students. This book is ideal for the beginner to intermediate music student with most of the examples notated in the easier keys. Besides learning how to play Blues riffs the book is a useful tool for sightreading exercises with many different rhythms. The 12 bar Blues progression and the Blues scale in Andrew’s opinion the two most important aspects of playing the Blues is explained in detail as well as “straight” and “swing” rhythms. There are five sections to the riffs in the book section 1 contains basic Blues riffs section 2 contains Rhythm & Blues influenced riffs section 3 contains Blues/Boogie Woogie riffs section 4 contains Rock influenced Blues riffs and section 5 contains Gospel influenced Blues riffs. Included with this book is an audio CD that contains all the riffs recorded twice: first sax melody piano guitar bass and drums and second just the rhythm track of piano guitar bass & drums so you can play-a-long. 'Whether reading the 100 riffs or picking them up by ear the book can have many uses. It is good for sightreading in the style short improvisational work or developing the ear. The clean well-laid out books should offer a springboard into further study of the blues and improvisation.'

'Flee the storms.' Reynaldo Hahn (1874-1947) put this motto of classical artists at the heart of his music for piano four hands preferring the balance of proportions to the roar of passions the eclecticism of good taste charm and delicacy. Berceuses falls within the French tradition of children's music such as illustrated by Fauré's Dolly and Ravel's Ma mère l'Oye . These seven pieces evoke with refinement the happiness of a cloudless day the effervescence that reigns on Christmas Eve or the gentle syncopated rocking of a young Creole Selfiana. The Variations puériles sur une mélodie de CarlReinecke manifest a free whimsical vein whereas the Trois préludes sur des airs irlandais drink at the pure sources of folk music borrowing their thematic material from the famous collection Songs of Old Ireland which Stanford had brought out in 1882. Published for the first time from a handwritten score the Variations sur un thème de Charles Levadé end with a wild quadrille t
