für Violoncello und Klavier- Julius Klengel (1859-1933) was a German cellist most famous for his etudes and solo pieces written for the instrument - he ultimately composed hundreds of pieces for the Cello including four Violoncello concertos two double Cello concertos Cello quartets a Cello sonata as well as numerous caprices etudes and other technical pieces. Unfortunately the majority of his compositions for Cello are rarely remembered however this piece stands out for its value to developing cellists - it is a wonderful brief introduction to the concerto form. The diverse three movements of the Concertino in C Major give the student pleasure whilst onlyinvolving the 6th and 7th positions at the higher register (but no thumb positions). With a total performance time of approximately 20 minutes this concerto is perfect for intermediate to advanced cellists (Grade 6-8).

Olivier Messiaen (1908-1992) is known for his unique composition style. Incorporating complex rhythms harmony and melodies Harawi is no exception to the composer's popular distinctive style. Published in 1948 Harawi for Soprano and Piano accompaniment is a song cycle in the style of love songs of Andean music. The cycle explores themes of life and death and have significant meaning to Messiaen whose first wife Claire Delbos had begun to suffer from mental illness in the years preceding the composition. Harawi is made up of twelve movements and a typical performance lasts aroundfifty minutes. This edition of the popular Messiaen work is clear and well-presented. Harawi is essential to all advanced Sopranos seeking to expand and vary their repertoire.

An aria is a lyrical dramatic solo work for voice. For this work an instrumental soloist interprets the vocal part. The typical melancholy nostalgia and drama of the Italian aria combines with filmtrack like passages (Morricone) to form the main ingredients of this simple composition. The solo part can be played by a euphonium a trombone or a tenor saxophone (or flugelhorn).

Suite Op.64 is an exciting work for Solo Horn in F composed by Bertold Hummel. This work will provide an enjoyable challenge for the advancing horn player. This suite is divided into four movements: I - Invocation; II - Intermezzo; III - Choral; and IV - Finale.

Made for second and third year players this material is really accessible and easy to play. Marcel Mule (1901-2001) is one of the greatest French saxophonists renowned worldwide for his work on the classical Saxophone repertoire. He was teaching his students how to obtain a good quality of sound and believed it was dependent on the embouchure the emission the mastery of vibrato and therefore of breathing. He wrote different methods that focus on technique articulation and tone productions such as 'Dix-huit Exercices ou études' 'Exercices Journaliers d'après Terschack' or '30 Grands Exercices ou études d'après Soussmann' (in two books) among others.
