Red and black lacquer bowl 19 x height 7.5 cm. Handmade using pure organic materials, it takes approximately 8 months to finish each bowl. The bowls are made from coiled bamboo glued with rice glue and then layered approximately 10 times with lacquer (a natural sap) Lacquer ware was the traditional table ware in many parts of S.E. Asia, before plastic and crockery came along. Hot food can be served in the bowls but after some time, due to wear and tear, the lacquer may crack. If this happens, being organic, they are great to recycle as pots for household plants! Lacquer ware is NOT dishwasher proof.
