Cantata for Sunday Sexagesimae- Gleichwie Der Regen Und Schnee Vom Himmel Fällt (Like As The Raindrops And Snow From Heaven Fall) BWV 18 Cantata for Sunday Sexagesimae Leipzig Version - Performance material (BA10018) vocal score (BA10018-90) & study score (TP1018) available for sale Barenreiter's editions of Bach 's Cantatas offer the authoritative text of the New Bach Edition meeting Bärenreiter Urtext standards. No group of works in Johann Sebastian Bach ’s output is as wide-ranging as the cantatas. This is hardly surprising considering that for over five years Bach was required to compose a work or at least re-work an existing one forevery Sunday and festival of the church year as well as for numerous secular occasions such as council inaugurations school and university celebrations and royal birthdays. Unfortunately not all cantatas have survived. However over 200 sacred and secular works exist and form a corpus of works suitable for all possible occasions. This rich musical heritage is still as relevant today as it was then.

The String Quintet in E-flat major Op.97 (with two Violas) is the third work Dvo ák composed during his stay in America. “This quintet may be said in three of its movements to show the influence of American life and American music upon the composer” wrote the American music critic Henry Krehbiel on 7 January 1894. The use of particular melodic and rhythmic elements in his American compositions as typically found in Afro-American gospels strengthened the gathering conception considering Dvo ák to be the founder of an American national style of music. The String Quintet in E-flat major was premiered on 12 January 1894 at the Carnegie Halland was published shortly afterwards in score and parts by Simrock. This first edition is the main source for this publication. Reprint from the Complete Edition of the Works of Antonín Dvo ák Vol. IV/8. New foreword (Cz/Eng/Ger) by David Beveridge with an evaluation of the origin of the composition.

Cantata for Christmas Day- Gelobet seist du Jesu Christ BWV 91 Cantata for Christmas Day The cantata Gelobet seist du Jesu Christ was composed by J. S. Bach for Christmas Day 1724. It belongs to that yearly set of “chorale cantatas” the texts of which were mostly derived from a single chorale. The anonymous author of the text used to retain literally the first and last verses of the selected chorale but paraphrased the middle verses more or less freely in the form of recitatives arias and ariosi. for Piano- Early evidence of Schubert ’s interest in music of the past can be found in his Fantasy in C minor of 1811 (D 2 E) with its echoes of Mozart’s fantasy in the same key. F minor A major C major-Bärenreiter continues its Urtext edition of the complete Beethoven piano sonatas with an important contribution. The frequently played Sonatas op. 2 Nos. 1-3 stem from the time when the young composer took lessons from Joseph Haydn in Vienna and are dedicated to his teacher. After Beethoven’s three early sonatas which he wrote as a youth in Bonn the so-called “Kurfürsten-Sonaten” Beethoven started 10 years later in the mid 1790s to develop a style independent from the legacy of Mozart and Haydn and presented with his op. 2 his first fully valid piano sonatas. Bärenreiter continues its Urtext edition of the complete Beethoven Piano sonatas. They begin with the frequently played Op.2 Sonatas (Nos. 1-3) (BA10859) which stem from his early yet mature oeuvre when he was developing an independent style from the legacy of Mozart and Haydn. They then proceed to the lyrical D major Sonata Op.28 (BA11814) from his middle period (nicknamed “Pastorale” by the publisher of the original edition) and finally to the Sonata Op.101 (BA11811) Beethoven ’s first sonata specifically intended for the “hammerklavier” and the one that introduced his esoteric late style to the Piano sonatas. The acclaimed Beethoven specialist Jonathan Del Mar has consulted every known source for these critical Urtext performing editions. In addition he has analysed various copies of the prints published during Beethoven ’s lifetime. The results of his accurate research are presented in a meticulously edited musical text at the cutting edge of scholarship together with a detailed Critical Commentary. All volumes stand out in terms of their elegant and well-presented layout. Special emphasis has been placed on optimum page-turns and on the consideration of the flow of the music. The highly informative Introductions on the genesis and significance of the works are supplemented by valuable notes on historical performance practice. New critical performing editions at the cutting edge of scholarship. Optimum page-turns. Anthem- The Anthem in the post-Reformation church music of England was initially the term given to a choral work with an English biblical text. By the end of the 17th century it begins to take on Italian stylistic elements and becomes a cantata for solo voices choir and orchestra. The anthem 'O sing unto the Lord' presented here based on words of the 96th Psalm is a particularly beautiful example of the transformation of the traditional and the modern style into a unified whole. Handel wrote the famous Dixit Dominus with the text of Psalm 109 during his time in Italy in c. 1707. Although he was only 22 years old the work already demonstrates his wide spectrum of compositional abilities which are later fully realized in his operas and oratorios. Central to this work are the six choral movements which – with their polyphonic structure – are closely related to German choral music of the 17th century. The first Urtext edition BA 4002 based on the Halle Handel Edition was published in 1960. At that time no critical commentary was published so that in cases of doubt the basis on which editorialdecisions were made was not officially recorded. A new complete edition volume (BA 10704/01) due to be published in 2013 will include a detailed foreword providing information on the genesis and the first performance of this work as well as information on the psalm on which this work is based and on performance practice. In addition several facsimiles pages will be included giving a view into the source material. The critical commentary will provide a detailed insight into all the available sources and how they have been passed down. This newly revised Urtext performing edition offers a thorough revision of this frequently-performed work and meets all the requisites of a scholarly-critical edition. Former readings in the old edition regarding a small number of pitches but mostly basso continuo figures and the underlying text have now been able to be amended on the basis of the new findings. In the new edition the work appears in nine movements – no longer eight – which reflects the composer's intentions. The new performance material is not compatible with the old one. BWV 10- Now My Soul Exalts The Lord BWV 10: Cantata for the Feast of Visitation B. V. M. With his cantata Meine Seel Erhebt Den Herren which Bach composed for the Visitation of Mary (2 July) he created a Magnificat setting of a different kind: The German text source is a combination of biblical text and a free interpretation the basis being the Marian hymn of praise from the Gospel according to Luke. The 9th psalm tone acts as the chorale melody and becomes a recurring musical theme. With a small scoring of one trumpet (which if need be can be omitted) two oboes strings and basso continuo along with four soloists and choir Bach succeeds in writing a festive music of 20-25 minutes. This performing edition is based on the Urtext of the New Bach Edition.

Cantata for the 15th Sunday after Trinity- Jauchzet Gott In Allen Landen - Praise Ye God Throughout Creation BWV 51. Cantata for the 15th Sunday after Trinity. The solo cantata “Jauchzet Gott In Allen Landen” written around 1730 for the 15th Sunday after Trinity is one of Bach ’s best-known cantatas. The scoring for solo Soprano Trumpet Strings and Continuo is unique amongst Bach ’s cantatas and has parallels with Italian composers of the period. The enduring popularity of the work is due to the clear and succinct formal structure and not least to the virtuoso Trumpet part and Soprano arias in which the soloists can demonstrate their total mastery. The cantata ispublished in a Vocal score based on the “New Bach Edition” with an idiomatic straightforward Piano reduction by Martin Focke. - Famous work with a festive instrumental sound. - Urtext based on the “New Bach Edition”. - Clear straightforward Piano reduction. - Study score (TP1051) performance material (BA10051) & Vocal score (BA10051-90) available for sale.
