French violinist and composer Jean-Joseph Cassanéa de Mondonville (1711-1772) was a young contemporary of Rameau. De Mondonville was successful in his day Dominues Regnavit being no exception. Best known for his Operas and Sacred music De Mondonville 's compositions won the composer the post of Master of the Music of the Royal Chapel. Dominus Regnavit was composed in 1935 and is a Large Motet based on Psalm 92. With a typical performance lasting about 23 minutes de Mondonville 's Dominus Regnavit for choir is a sublime addition to the repertoire.

Pour Quator á Cordes- Born in 1947 Laurent Duvillier-Wable trained under pianist Suzanne Joly and studied composition with Michel Puig. The latter a student of René Leibowitz introduced him to the mysteries of Schonberg and Webern's twelve-note composition. To create a coherent œuvre Duvillier-Wable drew on the array of possibilities offered by chamber music in his series of six Sonatas composed between 1992 and 2007. Sonata IV For String Quartet was written in 1994 the year his father - painter René Duvillier a friend of Charles Estienne and André Breton - fell gravely ill. Divided into four movements thecomposition contains two beautifully expressive musical references: the Lamento religioso refers to Bach's Passion according to Saint Matthew by quoting the choral 'Was ist die Ursache aller solcher Plagen' (No.19: What is the cause of all this suffering?) when Jesus distressed by his imminent agony asks his disciples to watch over him. The Agitato final borrows the inexorable 'Must it be? It must!' theme from Beethoven's Quartet No.16 in F that crowns this poignant work.

Pour Alto Saxophone et Piano- Born to an Italian father and a French mother Eugène Bozza (1905-1991) divided his music studies between the Academia Santa Cecilia in Rome and the Conservatoire de Paris where he was taught by Henri Busser and Henri Rabaud. His chamber music compositions reveal a marked predilection for wind instruments as reflected in Fantaisie pastorale for oboe and piano (1939) and New-Orléans for bass saxhorn and piano (1944). During his stay a few years earlier at the Villa Medici in Rome (1936) Bozza had written his Aria Pour Saxophone Alto Et Piano - a free adaptation of the third movement of JohannSebastian Bach's Organ Pastorale in F major BWV 590. This expansive and nostalgic melody which unfolds over a regular meter has become one of the most widely played Saxo­phone pieces in the world. Having enjoyed such success éditions Leduc has decided to supplement its republication with an audio version that will enable saxo­phonists to carry out full-scale practice.

Between the late 19th century and the early 1960s French music experienced a Golden Age during which the flute played a prominent role: this age-old instrument played by fauns and shepherds spun numerous arabesques whose sensuous contours seemed to celebrate the mysterious connections between nature and the imagination (Debussy).
