Hungarian composer Laszlo Lajtha first studied at the Academy of Music in Budapest before moving to Paris to study with Vincent d'Indy. Initially in collaboration with Béla Bartok and Zoltan Kodaly Lajtha studied the transcription of the Hungarian folk song. He soon began composing other significant work including Sonate En Concert for Flute and Piano often incorporating Hungarian influences. Lajtha 's composition catalogue comprises mainly of orchestral works however Sonate En Concert for Flute and Piano is made up of four movements; 1)Entrance with Two Cadences 2) Nostalgic Berceuse 3) Melancholic Menuet and 4) Gay Finale. The work is highly virtuosic addressing advanced features such as variations in articulation complex rhythms exploitation of the ensemble chromaticism and uses of extended techniques including flutter tonguing. Part of the collection Concert Solo Neuvième Solo is a contemporary and modern piece by Raymond Gallois Montbrun for Violin and Piano. Quite difficult this piece should prepare upper-intermediate players to play classical concertos. This really nice piece is composed of a main theme four variations and a final. The theme is quite lyrical and has an Allegretto tempo. The fourth theme stands out by its extensive use of harmonies. The Piano accompaniment also evolves based on the variations. The piece finishes on a really harmonious final. Raymond Gallois Montbrun (1918-1994)was a French violinist and composer who won the Premier Grand Prix de Rome and the Grand Prix de Paris. He later became the director of the Paris Conservatoire. He composed many symphonic pieces an opera a quartet and many pieces for Solo Piano Violin and Piano and other instruments.

Olivier Messiaen (1908-1992) is known for his unique composition style. Incorporating complex rhythms harmony melodies and his passion for ornithology Les Corps Glorieux is no exception to the composer's popular distinctive style. Composed in the summer of 1939 the work was completed one week before the breakout of WWII therefore the first performance did not come until 1945. Being one of Messiaen 's earlier works Les Corps Glorieux for Organ represents the evolution of the composer's musical language. Written after William Shakespeare La Mort D'Ophélie is a piece by Hector Berlioz . For two female voices (Soprano and Contralto) accompanied by a Piano this piece tells the story of the death of Ophélie while she was picking some flowers next to a torrential river. Even though the end of the story is sad the music is highly lyrical resulting from the combination of the two voices and the Piano part could be played by an upper intermediate player.
