for Horn and Piano-When Tantalus a figure from Greek mythology invited the gods to a banquet he served them his son Pelops whom he had cut into pieces. He did so to test whether his guests were omniscient. As a punishment Zeus sent Tantalus to Tartarus the deepest part of the underworld to suffer everlasting torture. The term ‘torment of Tantalus' refers to this predicament representing things much desired but that are out of reach. Kevin Houben used the story of Tantalus as inspiration for this composition.

An original and exciting collection of anthems and other choral pieces written for the Orthodox Church and inspired by the Church in Russia selected by Ralph Allwood. Partly because of the re-emergence of the Church in the former Soviet Union interest in Christian musical sources alternative to the great body of the Anglican and other Western Christian traditions has grown sharply in recent years. Though the works presented here may be unfamiliar they are all masterly. Designed to appeal to choirs of various levels the collection includes a Kontakion and Ikos for the funeral service anthems by Great Russian Romantics: Tchaikovsky Rachmaninov Grechaninov; andcomposers from our age: Stravinsky Schnittke or Arvo Part speaking for a tradition outside the Orthodox Church as well as settings of the Lord's Prayer in both Russian and English by John Tavener.

A Fantasy Adventure- A Princess’s Tale is based on one of the best-known of all fairy tales by the Grimm Brothers with the original German title Schneewittchen . According to the mythologies the story actually took place in Spessart. It is even allegedly possible to identify specific reference points within the plot to Lohr and its environs. Thomas Doss has taken this opportunity to link this story to the area and has even incorporated the motif from the famous “Spessart Song” into each of the four movements Once Upon a Time… The Dwarfs The Glass Coffin and The Princess’s Release and Wedding .
