An incredible addition to the upper level band repertoire! A pointillist mixed-meter opener grabs your attention followed by urgent ensemble rhythmic motifs percussive excitement surprising horn tremolos and thrilling brass and woodwind interplay. An extended dreamlike second movement features rich unison chalumeau clarinets and brass chorales that fade in and out much like sunlight on a crystal prism or reflection pool. The final movement is filled with rapid low brass passage work contrasted by exotic clarinet flute and oboe solos over full ensemble staccato punches. A whirling syncopated foray ends the work with flair. The work commemorates the 125th anniversaryof St. Olaf College. Symphonic Band (score & parts). Paulus S

Dramatic and lyrical by turns this work displays Rachmaninov's keyboard characteristics: intense Russian flavor rich and bold sonorities compelling rhythmic drive and brilliant virtuosity. Rachmaninov shows here a very fine grasp of the medium of two pianos his haunting sense of melody and his richly harmonic and rhythmic foundation. Altogether it ranks as a very important contribution to two-piano literature. Arranged for 2 Pianos 4 Hands this edition includes two complete copies of the work.

Antonio Vivaldi probably composed his famous Gloria in 1725. Although the exact circumstances of its origin remain a riddle it was definitely conceived as a self-contained concert piece rather than as part of a complete setting of the Mass. The compositional fabric the festive character of the outside movements and the predominance of the strings in the middle movements make this masterpiece of Venetian sacred music a natural choice for an arrangement for solo voices choir and organ. Rather than imitating the orchestral writing Martin Focke’s arrangement offers a self-contained version tailor-made for this combination of instruments thereby making a pinnacleof European church music accessible to the often more modest resources of today’s churches. Standard work of the oratorio repertoire Self-contained version for solo voices (SSA) choir (SATB) and organ Highly supportive easy-to-play organ part Ideal for use in church services Duration: c. 30 mins. The Bärenreiter Choir & Organ Series presents great choral works in arrangements for soloists choir and organ; no orchestra is needed. The original orchestral parts have been transcribed into easy-to-play organ reductions whereby the contemporary tradition of such arrangements has been taken into consideration. In some cases the original organ versions by the composer were used. The organ parts are presented on three staves. The choir and solo parts always remain true to the original. You need only one edition for soloists singers and organist alike.

The death in 1873 of Mussorgsky's friend Victor Hartmann was the stimulus for the initial creation of what was to become one of the most vividly colourful works in the orchestral repertoire. However Mussorgsky's original piano version of Pictures At An Exhibition was not even published until 5 years after his death and remained almost unknown until Ravel's masterful orchestration of it in 1922. From then on it has become favourite in the orchestral repertoire. This is the piano version of Mussorgsky’s famous work.
