When Queen Caroline the wife of King George II of England died on 20 November 1737 Handel was commissioned to write an anthem for her funeral service. She was buried in King Henry VII’s Chapel Westminster Abbey on the evening of 17 December 1737 with Handel’s work performed after the funeral service. To emphasize the solemnity of the occasion he used a roughly 100-piece Orchestra and 80 Choristers. The piece is a so-called “full anthem” consisting of an instrumental Introduction (“Symphony”) and thirteen interlinked choruses. The words were written by Edward Willes the Sub-Dean of Westminster at that time using passages from the King James Bible and theBook of Common Prayer albeit sometimes departing from the original wording. The absence of sections for solo voice has made this anthem a favourite among ambitious choruses and a highlight of any concert programme. Our edition contains the original unabridged version with English text. Martin Focke’s Piano reduction follows the Urtext of the Halle Handel Edition. Original unabridged version. Stabat Mater Hob.XX bis Oratorio (funeral music) versions from 1767 and 1803 The new scholarly critical edition of Joseph Haydn's Stabat Mater (1767) is published in Henle's complete edition of Haydn's works. This edition is the first to come as close as possible to the lost original and has been compiled using all currently available sources. The score has been fully amended in its original orchestration for two oboes or English horn strings and organ. At a later performance of this work probably in 1803 Haydn attempted to accommodate the intervening changes in musical taste. According to the composer's request and under his supervision SigismundNeukomm enlarged the wind orchestration by adding a flute two clarinets two bassoons two French horns trumpets and timpani. Urtext from the Haydn Complete Edition Haydn’s Stabat Mater in both its original scoring as well as Neukomm's scoring. The popular Swedish children's series Pippi Långstrump (Pippi Longstocking) is about an exceedingly strong and strong-willed little girl with red braids - who is the brainchild of Astrid Lindgren. This series has been broadcasted in many countries. I arranged its cheerful theme tune in samba style. Even with the new rhythm the original song is still very recognizable. In the exuberant samba style the percussion plays an important role. Within the Långstrump Samba this is especially clear in the ad libitum percussion solo halfway through the arrangement. The solo can go on as long as desired and offers plenty of freedom because of the free choice of the instruments used.

Mass for Mariazell- Missa Cellensis Hob.XXII:8 'Mass for Mariazell' Urtext: J. Haydn Werke Henle Verlag Score containing also Missa brevis Sti Joannis de Deo (Little Organ Mass) (Hob.XXII:7) Missa in Tempore Belli (Pauken Mass) (Hob.XXII:9) Missa Sti Bernardi von Offida (Heilig Mass) (Hob.XXII:10) Appendix: Inter alia the version of the Gloria from (Hob.XXII:7) from Michael Haydn In March 1781 one of Haydn's friends Anton Liebe a member of an old and distinguished Austrian military family was raised to the nobility. He seems to have asked his friend Joseph Haydn to write a festive thankoffering in the form of a Mass for the famous pilgrimage church of Mariazell in Styria. Haydn began the work in 1782 and recently the original parts to the Missa Cellensis were found in the organ loft of the splendid baroque church at Mariazell. Haydn's Mariazellermesse has always been one of his most popular works. The Volkstumlichkeit (which one might translate as down to-earthiness) the miraculous fusion of polyphonic forms with the language and form of the Vienna classical school - note that the Kyrie is in sonata form with shortened recapitulation and coda - the brilliant orchestration to which the trumpets and drums contribute so much festive joyousness: all these have won the hearts of audiences everywhere whenever the Mass was given. - Urtext from Joseph Haydn Werke - Full score parts and vocal score available for sale
