Having been considered as a 'fashionable' and 'cliché' composer of his day Hahn was best known for his contributions to the French Mélodie however his other works have never gone amiss. His Le Rossignol éperdu Poèmes for Piano represents the engaging diversity of the composer's music. Venezuelan born Reynaldo Hahn (1875-1947) entered the Paris Conservatoire at 10 years old. He received a high standard of musical education from Decombes Lavignac Dubois and Massenet before becoming a prolific and versatile composer himself writing works for all genres. For Hahn music was a magical art and his instrumental compositions often contain expressions of his otherwise hidden emotions and moods. Suitable advanced pianists the first volume of Hahn 's Le Rossignol éperdu Poèmes provides pleasant and evocative performance pieces incorporating a range of expressions rhythms and other musical features.

Poulenc 's song cycle Chansons Gaillardes was composed in 1925-1926 during the post-war euphoria. The cycle is essential to aspiring advanced Baritones. Francis Poulenc (1899-1963) was a highly prolific composer and remains popular to this day. Chansons Gaillardes was composed towards the beginning of the composer's career for Baritone Pierre Bernac. At the first performance Poulenc himself played the piano and the song cycle was immediately a hit. Chansons Gaillardes is made up of eight songs which alternate between lively and slow tempos; 1) TheFickle Mistress 2) Drinking Song 3) Madrigal 4) Summoning the Fates 5) Bacchanalian Couplets 6) The Offering 7) The Beautiful Youth and 8) Serenade. As a song cycle with much variation Poulenc 's Chansons Gaillardes is an exciting addition to the Baritone repertoire.

French organist composer and teacher Charles-Marie Widor (1844-1937) is predominantly known for his Organ symphonies. However his Introduction et Rondo for Clarinet and Piano also remains popular and is still regularly performed today. Widor became Director of Organ Studies at the Paris Conservatoire in 1890 and soon followed this by taking charge of the composition class. His Introduction et Rondo was composed in 1898 during his period at the Conservatoire and at the height of his career. The piece exploits the Clarinet to its full potential creating a challenging yet exciting performance on the instrument. Widor 's Introduction et Rondo is essential to the repertoire of all advanced clarinetists.
