Wedgwood Blue a graceful dance was first written as an orchestral intermezzo in 1920. It remains one of the composer's most popular works still regularly performed and recorded today. It has been arranged for solo Violin with Piano accompaniment by the composer. Albert William Ketelbey (1875-1959) was a British composer pianist and conductor. He studied Piano at Trinity College of Music in London before branching out and earning a living as a composer and arranger. He became the foremost composer of cinema and light music between the wars so much so that he was hailed as “Britain’s greatest living composer” in some circles.

Leo Portnoff (1875-1940) was a Ukranian-born composer violinist and pedagogue. He studied with Joachim and Wirth in Berlin before teaching at the Klindworth-Scharwenka Conservatory and later becoming a professor at the Stern Conservatory. After the First World War he became a conductor before moving to America in 1922 where he remained for the rest of his life eventually becoming Head of Violin at the University of Miami. Portnoff is best remembered for his Russian Fantasias but he wrote many more works for Violin with Piano accompaniment often for educational purposes. Minuet In Old Style (Menueten style ancient) is one of these.

Gavotte In D was first written by the French composer Francois Joseph Gossec (1734-1829) for Flute and Strings. It was arranged for solo Violin and Piano by Emil Kross (1852-1917) in 1908. It has since become one of the composer’s most popular chamber works with countless arrangements for various instruments. The violinist music editor and composer Emil Kross was one of the most prolific editors and arrangers of his generation. He is best remembered for his opus 40 The Art of Bowing a pedagogical work which has served countless violinists for over a century.

A Bit Of A Blow was originally written for the Saxology Quartet in 1996 and has been recorded by them on Meridian. The version for clarinet and piano received its premiere on 5th June 1999 at St. John the Baptist Chipping Barnet performed by David Kirby with the composer at the piano. This arrangement was made for clarinet and piano in 1998.
