The moving song is about a blind musician and the heartfelt love song come from the other side of the globe but their melodies and harmonies sometimes sound surprisingly European.

for Trombone Solo and Brass Band- Contrasts was written for and dedicated to trombone soloist Dr. Brett Baker. As the titles indicates contrasting elements characterize this challenging piece. The slow movement Sounds has a somewhat dark and sombre atmosphere with complex harmonies and special sound effects. However the second movement Caprice is energetic entertaining virtuosic and somewhat whimsical - quite a contrast indeed with the first!

Symphony No. 2- Salamander Symphony is a three-movement work for symphonic wind band in which the city of Kornwestheim situated in Baden-Württemberg occupies centre stage. It is the name of the well-known shoe factory that was established there in 1899 – and that symbolizes the industrial and social development of the city. In the symphony we find various references to the mythological meaning of salamanders: they are vigorous creatures that contain the soul of fire. Without salamanders there would not be any fire. In addition a salamander can change its shape and serve as a kind of vehicle through time. In the Berber culture the salamander represents change.

Hungarian Pictures- Tarjan Hungarian Pictures is a work in three movements commissioned by the town of Vesoul and its concert band. This work pays tribute to Jean-Marie Goux the band’s former musical director who had forged strong links with Hungary: whether in the village of Tarján or Budapest itself he had shared his zest for life with the Hungarian people. This colourful work consists of three movements: ‘The 7th Tribe’ ‘Eternal Fidelty’ and ‘Conquest of the Homeland’. It offers not only strong musical content but also historical insight about a beautiful region with a great tradition.
