Musical dialogues between two violas-Starter Duets for Viola contains a few arrangements of traditional tunes but mostly new compositions inspired by the classical tradition - with some occasional contemporary elements. From the very beginning these duets can be played alongside any cello method. The upper and lower parts are equal in terms of difficulty and musical expression.

Original Pieces in Caribbean and Brazilian styles-The very successful book Moments of Swing is now followed by Moments of Latin with ten songs in Brazilian and Caribbean styles such as the bossa nova samba calypso and merengue. The pieces are based on chord schemes from the common Real Book repertoire. In addition to these new adventurous melodies the original themes of the pieces can generally be played over the accompaniments on the CD. The solo parts have been made to sound like improvisations but chord symbols have been added so that you can also improvise yourself. Elle débute avec un adagio suivi d’un allegro écrit sous la forme d’une fugue. Le passage central développe successivement trois groupes d’accords qui rappellent les premières mesures de l’ouverture.

Border Zone (Zone frontalière) est une œuvre en trois tableaux musicaux qui racontent l’histoire de Dinxperlo un village situé à l’est des Pays-Bas dans la région de l’Achterhoek non loin de la frontière allemande.Le premier tableau s’ouvre avec une description de la Course des Bataves une course de relais inter-universitaire entre l’Université de Nimègue et celle de Twente. Après un passage sur le sol allemand les participants reviennent aux Pays-Bas en traversant la frontière à Dinxperlo. Ce thème est joué en alternance avec un thème énergique et audacieux qui dépeint les contrebandiers longtemps très actifs des deux côtés de la frontière. Le second tableauillustre la grande procession qui a lieu chaque année à Dinxperlo. Le troisième et dernier tableau s’ouvre sur les sons joyeux qui montent du traditionnel marché de Pentecôte qui s’étend de l’autre côté de la frontière. Les sons animés du marché sont entrecoupés d’un tissu sonore écrit dans l’esthétique d’un choral et qui fait référence à la plus petite église des Pays-Bas un site culturel très prisé. Les deux thèmes cheminent vers un finale brillant et passionnant.

T-Square is a Japanese jazz fusion band that was formed in 1978. They became famous in the late 70s and early 80s amongst other Japanese fusion bands. One of their most popular songs is Omens of Love . This beautiful Concert Band arrangement from Toshio Mashima is played all over the world.

The inspiration for this piece commissioned by the United States Army Band came from the Gulf and its constant presentation to the world as a media event on television. The composer wanted to capture the colour and events of war as they were played out on the television screen. Composed as a single movement rhapsody the work is framed by the riveting sounds of airborne bombing raids with brass and percussion combining to create a gripping sense of tension.

En général la musique de film est composée à partir et en fonction des événements qui se produisent dans l’intrigue du scénario. L’inverse est plutôt rare mais Jacob de Haan parvient à nous démontrer le contraire avec La Storia . Sans jamais nous livrer des éléments de l'intrigue il nous propose environ sept minutes de musique intense. Par conséquent l’œuvre fait appel à l’imagination individuelle ; chacun d’entre nous étant libre de créer son propre scénario à partir de ce qu’il entend. Avec La Storia Jacob de Haan rend hommage au maître italien de la musique de film : Ennio Morricone.

In Majestic Prelude the instrumental music is closely connected to the text and vocal music. The work is based on a well-known psalm melody. As the title suggest it begins with a majestic introduction in which several sections of the psalmare heard. Various instruments play around with fragments of the familiar tune. This composition is an excellent opening piece for a concert!

The legendary White Christmas has been sung by many famous artists including Bing Crosby Fred Astaire Judy Garland Nat King Cole and Clark Gable. This widely known Christmas song has been tastefully arranged by Naohiro Iwai and will make an ideal closing item for any Christmas concert.

La Dent du Chat- Legend of a Mountain (Légende d’une montagne) raconte la légende de la Dent du Chat une montagne située sur la rive Ouest du lac du Bourget dans le département de la Savoie (France). L’imposante introduction préfigure l’histoire dramatique que raconte la légende. Au pied de la montagne non loin du lac vivait jadis un pêcheur avec sa femme et leurs cinq enfants. Un thème paisible (en 6/8) évoque le pêcheur assis dans sa frêle barque dansant au milieu des eaux ondulantes du lac. Un jour attendant en vain une prise le pêcheur promit de rejeter à l'eau le premier poisson qu'il attraperait dans l'espoir d'être récompensé pour son geste généreux. À peineavait-il fait cette promesse qu'il sentit mordre à son hameçon. Oubliant sa promesse il garda le poisson et relança sa ligne. À la troisième prise il sortit de l’eau un chat noir. Le thème paisible est soudainement interrompu par les timbales qui annoncent la prise imminente d’un gros poisson. C’est l’effervescence. Le gros poisson (ou plus précisément le chat) a mordu. Dès lors la musique devient plus turbulente. Le pêcheur rentra chez lui le chat sous son bras. Sa femme et ses enfants l’adoptèrent et en prirent soin. Un thème lyrique s’élève de plusieurs pupitres de l’orchestre. Il reflète l’harmonie qui règne dans la famille du pêcheur. Ce sentiment d’harmonie chemine vers un motif plus incisif suivi d’un coup de grosse caisse illustrant l’agressivité du chat. Au fil des mois le chat devint agressif allant jusqu’à mordre les enfants. Comme le pêcheur était superstitieux il n'osait tuer le chat par crainte de malédiction. Il mit l'animal dans un sac et l'emmena très loin dans la montagne. La marche en montagne est illustrée par un thème ascendant. Le motif plus agressif est ensuite réexposé. Là-haut le chat s'attaqua aux troupeaux aux chiens aux femmes et aux enfants. Le pêcheur n'attrapa jamais plus le moindre poisson. Il vendit sa barque et devint bûcheron. Le mauvais sort s'acharna sur lui. Il se blessa d'un coup de hache et
