Composed between 1850 and 1854 L'Enfance Du Christ was first performed under Berlioz 's direction in 1854. As suggested by its subtitle the work is in three parts; Herod's Dream; The Flight into Egypt; The Arrival at Sais and is scored for seven solo voices chorus and orchestra.
