for Organ-Bolcom used the musical papers and sketches from the late William Albright as the basis for this composition which serves as a memorial to Albright. It was commissioned by the American Guild of Organists in 2002. A dramatic and deeply chromatic work for the Organ based upon the sketches of the late composer William Albright. Bolcom has incorporated many of Albright's original sketches and ideas into this unnerving work that exploits the endless textural and sonic potential of the Organ to the full. The writing is complex and challenging forming a remarkable unison between the characterful ideas of one composer and the structural vision of another.

Esprit de Corps was originally commissioned by the United States Marine Band of Washington D.C. Col. John R. Bourgeois conductor. Based upon The Marine's Hymn Esprit de Corps is a kind offantasy-march that serves as a tribute to the Marine Corps as well as to the Marine Band. Composed immediately after the 1983 bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut Lebanon the composer chose to forego an elegy-typetribute in favor of a work that reflects the positive spirit of the Corps full of energy and dynamism. Even the tempo marking Tempo di Bourgeois reflects the dramatic and spirited conducting of Col. John R.Bourgeois who was conductor of the Marine Band at the time of composing.

This bright and joyful work by Joan Morris and William Bolcom takes its text from The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Graham. Bringing in the many aspects of the Christmas season it makes a fine feature for many types of concert programs.

Commissioned for the 2003 opening of the new Noto Airport in Wajima Japan Alfred Reed brings us another significant work for the concert band repertoire. Since the year 2003 is also the centenary of the Wright brothers' firstflights this work commemorates A Century of Flight as well. Composed in 3 movements: I. Prologue: Look to the Skies! II. Intermezzo: The Winds and Waves of Wajima and III. March: With the Wings of Eagles.

Commissioned by and dedicated to the Katakura High School Band (Japan) Dr. Reed's newest work is a sparkling 6/8 march composed in a stately and grand style. With an array of brass flourishes inventive melodies and a rousingfinal strain here is a march destined to endure the test of time. (Grade 4) (4:00)

This very playable and appealing overture by Robert Jager is sure to be enjoyable by younger players. Bold and dignified characterize the opening segment which is followed by an energetic faster theme reminiscent of a ScottishHighland dance. A tender hymn-like melody is then developed before returning to the faster theme and powerful closing coda. Very well scored to sound full.
