Pourtant il fut considéré en son siècle comme un grand compositeur au style harmonique et mélodique très novateur.En 1725 suite à la venue à Paris de deux Indiens de La Louisiane Rameau écrivit une pièce pour clavecin qu’il intitula Les Sauvages . Plus tard il réutilisa cet air pour la scène finale de la quatrième entrée Les Sauvages ou La danse du grand calumet de la paix de son opéra-ballet Les Indes Galantes . Cette œuvre jouissait d’une popularité touteparticulière au XVIIIe siècle notamment en France.L’arrangement pour Orchestre d’Harmonie de Rob Wiffin se veut fidèle à la version originale tout en portant un regard nouveau sur cette œuvre. L’écriture est peu exigeante mais le style doit être très dansant pour une interprétation pleine de verve.

from Ben Hur-Le Hongrois Miklós Rózsa (1907-1995) fut un des derniers compositeurs de l’âge d’or hollywoodien. Auteur de plus de cent musiques de films il fut “oscarisé” à trois reprises pour les bandes originales des films La Maison du Docteur Edwardes (1945) Othello (1947) et enfin Ben Hur (1959) le péplum du cinéaste William Wyler (né à Mulhouse en Alsace). Ben Hur est le film de tous les superlatifs : l’un des plus grands budgets jamais alloué pour un film les décors les plus majestueux 11 Oscars et cette scène incroyable une course de chars qui dure environ 30 minutes et qui exigea à elle seule quatre mois de préparation et trois mois de tournage. The Parade of the Charioteers est le titre de la musique illustrant ce grand moment de cinéma. L’arrangement d’Ed Keeley est aussi monumental que la scène du film !
