The American Experience Series brings the folk lore stories and events of American history into song. J. Paul Williams long famous for his story texts in the sacred market has teamed up with established writers to launch thisoutstanding series. The SATB setting of Non Nobis Domine has become one of Rosephanye Powell's most celebrated works. The driving energy and ostinato rhythms are classic elements from Rosephanye's pen. Her husband William has adeptly revoiced this acappella setting for TTBB choirs. Also available for SSAA.

Thomas Moore's poem recalls the United Irishmen's Rebellion of 1798. Using the same tuneful aire to which the author originally set his text arranger Ken Neufeld musically depicts the emotion and inspiration of Moore's story. Asan added effect men's voices serve as military drums. A true musical gem from the Emerald Isle.

This setting is based on a three-part keyboard composition attributed to J.S. Bach. The contrapuntal lines are individually melodic and independent.

There are so many great things to exalt with Burchard's new Missa Brevis. Set consistently for 4 part voices we are blessed with Richard's signature harmonies but accessible to small choirs _ including church choirs! The 4-movement Mass (Kyrie Gloria Sanctus Agnus Dei) was written for a touring choir when a cappella singing is an advantage (no uncertain keyboards to worry about) the individual movements are not long and easily stand alone but the full work is wonderfully satisfying as a concert work or worship anthem. Commissioned by CODA (Choral Organizations & Developing Artists) composer Richard Burchard selected a poem by Christina Rossetti that celebrates spring in a more pensive way. Speaking poetically of how spring passes ultimately into death Burchard's music is thoughtful and soothing. from The Cry of Jeremiah-The Cry of Jeremiah a four movement work for choir and organ commissioned by the American Guild of Organists was a smashing success at its premiere in 2012. Hallelujah is the final movement from the work which works equally well with piano. Rosephanye's skill at merging the modern day African-American spiritual with traditional choral music is uncanny and very rewarding to sing.

2014 marks the 200th anniversary of the writing of Francis Scott Key's piece that became our National Anthem. Tim Sharp Executive Director of ACDA saw an opportunity for choirs all across America to stand together in harmony and celebration. His arrangement is based on the improvisation performed by Rachmaninoff an American citizen and can be sung a cappella or accompanied (see NMK1001/HL00125145) from National Music Publishers.

With text from the Book of Jeremiah the four movements follow the prophet's feelings of abandonment and redemption by God. Nell Walker has been singing with The Albert McNeil Jubilee Singers for many years and they have performed her arrangement many times. So it was time to make it available to all and we are proud to do so in Dr. McNeil's ownseries. This Spiritual could serve as a benediction or program closer but it works equally well at any time. It is a joyful farewell and a blessing that is enjoyed whenever it is sung.

Combining Psalm 130 and 139 along with a text by Isaac Watts teacher and composer Robert H. Young gives us another of his a cappella treats. His contemporary madrigal style that incorporates a harmonic romanticism is bestparalleled with a fine dessert. Rich in texture his writing is so well-crafted church choirs enjoy singing his work as do fine college ensembles.

Selected for the Albert McNeil Series Jacqueline Hairston (Jester's niece) has penned a powerful spiritual arrangement that includes the traditional Thanksgiving hymn Come Ye Thankful People Come. A strongsupportive keyboard part sets the mood followed by a 2-part vocal canon of the spiritual. The chorus brings everyone together then the hymn steps in over the spiritual as if the two were always meant to be sung together.

Young singers will learn the high points of one of America's most famous writers in this delightful song with music by Dave and Jean Perry and words by J. Paul Williams.
