In opdracht van de fanfare Flora uit Aalsmeer componeerde Goorhuis het werk Fiori Musicali. Het 4-delige werk is een ode aan de bloemenpracht een branche waarin Aalsmeer internationale bekendheid geniet. Vier delen alle genoemd naar een bloem vol contrasten geven het werk letterlijk en figuurlijk de kleuren die het nodig heeft. Narcissus (de trompetvormige bloem) straalt met haar scherpkopersignalen. De tere Fresia toont ons een prachtige sfeerschildering door het zacht koper. Het derde deel markeert de tulp (Tulipa) in een levendig scherzo. De Campanula (klokjesbloem) geeft een krachtig en feestelijk besluit aan de kleurrijke compositie. Het werk is opgenomen in het groot repertorium: Fanfare - 3e divisie.

In ‘A Summer Holiday’ Patrick Millstone takes us with him on a journey. After a year’s hard work we may finally enjoy a well-earned holiday. The first part of this three-part composition has the appropriate title ‘On Tour’. When we chose our holiday destination the brochure said that it would be bathed in sunlight every day. Unfortunately this turns out not to be the case. Somewhat melancholically we play round games in our summer house on a ‘Rainy Day’. However the next day when the sun again has driven away all the clouds we naturally visit the ‘Crowded Beach’ where we enjoy both sun sea and beach once again.

Vittorio Monti was born on January 6 1868 in Naples (Italy). His musical education (violin and composition) he enjoyed at the conservatory there. Around his 30's Monti went to Paris. He earned a living as a conductor and wrote several ballets and operettas. In his last years Monti died in 1922 he devoted himself to teaching and composing. His famous Czardas has made his name known even today. Initially the czardas was a Hungarian folk dance but after the mid-nineteenth century it was even a dance for the upper-class. Czardas begins with a slow introduction the Lassan (slow and sad) and then the fast part Friska follows. Czardas is not as somany people think typical gypsy music.

Johann Sebastian Bach could not have wished for a better accolade. A Tribute to Bach is a daring arrangement of Bach's Partita no.2 for pianoforte and a homage to the grandmaster of Baroque in a modern orchestration. Arranger Axel Norman has achieved this by adding percussion tastefully to the original. The woodwind section of the band however plays the leading parts.

This piece features two folksongs from Israel each portraying a different mood. The first section.'Ma Averech'(How shall this child be blessed) is calm and nostalgic with a slight hint of melancholy. In the second section 'Zemer Atik' (Old Song) the celebration breaks out! An exciting varied composition that your band will love playing!

Listening to Holiday Impressions you are instantly touched by the atmosphere of far-off lands exotic cities and lonely beaches. Rob Goorhuis has translated his holiday impressions into a light surprising and occasionally whimsical piece for trumpet or flugelhorn and band. The lively 'dialogue' between soloist and band makes this work a rewarding addition to the repertoire for musicians and audience alike. Rob Goorhuis heeft zijn vakantie indrukken vertaald in een lichte verrassende en soms grillige compositie. Een solo voor bugel oftrompet in een levendige conversatie met het orkest waarin de muzikale indrukken van een vakantie zijn weergegeven. Het werk werd geschreven n opdracht van het NIB ter gelegenheid van de tweede nationale bugeldag.
