“The Revival.” commissioned to open the 2017 Shanghai International Music Festival became the composer's ninth symphony. As usual in Gong's works the choral symphony was composed in the Classical-Romantic tradition with a heavy blend of Chinese folk and traditional material. The symphony consists of five movements which include a majestic Overture a song for Baritone (“The Youth”) a song for tenor (“The Workers”) a song for soprano (“Twilight”) and a grandiose choral finale (“The Dream”).

The Trio for Three Flutes here presented appeared in 1964 when Jean-Pierre Rampal acquired a non-original manuscript of this work in the Czech Republic. Attributed to an early period for its light character and instrumentation the Trio was taken into serious consideration by Beethoven scholar and redactor of arguably the most complete of Beethoven's catalogues the chronological and thematic catalogue of all Beethoven's works including the unpublished ones and the unused sketches (1968) whose 849 entries include the opus numbers the Kinsky-Halm the Hess and the Grove catalogues. The Trio for Three Flutes is cited in the Biamonti Appendix II 64 as a work of uncertainauthorship but nonetheless attributed to Beethoven. The first recording of the piece was released by Jean-Pierre Rampal who recorded the complete chamber works with flute by Beethoven for the Club Français du Disque label in 1964 together with Alain Marion and Christian Lardé. In lack of further information able to confirm Beethoven's authorship of this work all that is left to the listener and performer is to enjoy the particularly brilliant vivacity of the composition which may corroborate the hypothesis of a Beethovenian attribution.

The concerti by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart K 313 in G Major and K 314 in D Major represent two of the most important pieces for the flute. These Carol Wincenc publcations help students in their learning and preparation of these great works by utilizing a second flute part an effective practice introduced by her teacher Marcel Moyse. The second part serves as a useful tool in lessons at which no pianist is present to accompany the soloist and reveals to the student musical subtleties and concepts which would otherwise not have been possible to impart. The arrangements have been carefully written to be playable on historical as well as modern flutes and include Ms. Wincenc's owncadenzas that have been brilliantly honed by years of professional concertizing. Full Score-A barcarolle is a musical form which describes a song or instrumental piece in a swaying 6/8 time sugessting the lilting motion of a Venetian gondola. Shcherbakov's Barcarolle for Piano and Orchestra is less a literal interpretation of the traditional form but rather a spiritual one which suggests floating along a winding canal which is at times serene and darkly ominous at others. The premiere was conducted by Volodymyr Sheiko with Maria Vichliaeva on piano.
