Critica A.Borin - Riduzione Per Canto e Pianoforte-Tito Manlio was performed for the fi rst time in Mantua as second work of the Carnival season of winter 1719.Vivaldi set the libretto of La fi da ninfa a dramma per musica in three acts by Scipione Maffei with a view to its use for the inauguration of the new theatre of the Accademia Filarmonica of Verona which took place on 6 January 1732 during theCarnival season elaborate stage sets being provided by Francesco Bibbiena.The critical edition is based on the collation of the two complete manuscripts of the work kept at the National University Library of Turin: the Vivaldi’s autograph and a copy realized by fi ve copyists under the direct control of the composer.

The appendices include two pieces from the compositional history of the Requiem: an early version of the Libera me composed in 1869 as part of a collaborative work planned as a memorial to Rossini and the Liber scriptus which in the original score of the Manzoni memorial Requiem was composed as a fugue for chorus. The introduction to the score tracesthe complex compositional and performance histories of the Requiem and discusses the work’s problems of instrumentation and notation while the critical commentary gives a full description of the sources and an account of all editorial decisions.

Riduzione per flauto e pianoforte - revisione di Ginevra Petrucci-Giulio Briccialdi (1818-1881) has been one of the major European flutists of the Nineteenth Century. Praised by coeval critics as “the first among the living flutists” in a period when virtuosos were reaching extraordinary levels Briccialdi was a unique artist with a quintessentially Romantic personality. His refined activity as a composer is nowadays mostly known thanks to his paraphrases on operatic themes and to his didactic output but it is through his concertos – a real cornerstone in the instrumental virtuosic repertoire of the 1800s – that Briccialdi exploits the pinnacle of his opera-influenced style. Briccialdi’s concertos are intended for technically and stylisticallyadvanced performers.
