Longfellow's text is set with additional words and music by Ruth Morris Gray and the piano accompaniment is based on Pachelbel's Canon in D. Together it creates a sweet choral singing ding dong gently above the verses with use of an optional descant as well. A mature and meaningful selection for developing choirs.

This stately and elegant setting of Purcell's work from Birthday Ode for Queen Mary is adapted specifically for younger voices and developing choirs including men's ensembles. Set in the key of G and using the opening symphony music in 4/4 as an introduction the ranges are perfect for young ages and the joyful and spirited arrangement is terrific as an opening number for concert or contest.
