Pastorale for Christmas-Though lesser known than some Christmas melodies this stately pastoral work incorporates the chorus of O Come All Ye Faithful (or Adeste Fideles) into the writing. The original melody by Yon is rather remarkable in its elegant beauty and sounds timeless and enchantingly ancient though it was written rather recently in 1917. Pietro Yon was an organist who spent most of his career at the St. Patrick Cathedral in New York. Yon was well regarded in his lifetime by fellow musicians notably among his pupils was the celebrated American songwriter Cole Porter and upon his passing in 1943 Arturo Toscanini himself was among those who attended his large funeral. This arrangementbegins solftly with a simple statement of the melody in the trumpets. The theme expands as it is passed around the various instrumental choirs with increasing use of counterpoint. Culminating in a joyous exhaultation the music winds to a gentle and serene conclusion. The score is well-cued in key sections where the melody is prominent.

Full Score-This treatment has been done for strings alone with an optional part for harp. The original key of F has been retained and the optional harp part is embraced by the celli in definitive sections. This arrangement is playable by advancing ensembles with expanded use of rhythms ranges and keys but technical demands are still carefully considered. European Parts-Composed in the summer of 1984 Yorkshire Ballad was premiered at the Kansas Bandmasters Association Convention by Claude T. Smith and the Kansan Intercollegiate Band. Since its publication it has become one of the composer'smost popular works and has been arranged for a variety of ensembles. The composer writes I composed this little piece so that younger players would have the opportunity to play a piece that is more or less in the style of(Grainger's) Irish Tune from County Derry .

I Left My Heart in San Francisco is a popular song which has become a timeless favorite spanning across generations. With music by George Cory and lyric by Douglass Cross it became most well-known as the signature song of Tony Bennett. This band arrangement by Alfred Reed displays the wistful melody in a lush sonic canvas rich with the instrumental colors unique to a symphonic band. This edition includes a full score and newly engraved parts carefully edited and adapted for modern concert bands by Mark Rogers. (Grade 3.5)

for Concert Band-Citadel was composed to commemorate the 150th anniversary of The University of Kansas (1865 to 2015.) It begins with optional offstage chimes (one or two sets [opt.]) to depict the daily ringing of the bells in KU's World War II Memorial Campanile. Trumpets introduce a fanfare-like figure that quickly evolves into the opening theme of the work. As the music settles and becomes softer a saxophone choir introduces a slower more pensive middle theme intended to describe the university's academic nature. A quiet moment at the end of this section hints at the famous Rock Chalk Chant in solo horn before the chimes and fanfare return to end the work in a final dramatic outburstof sound and color.
