In May 1999 the Peter Warlock Society held a concert in which Malcolm Rudland played pieces specially written for the occasion by other society members. While not actually Warlock compositions they give a unique insight into the influence he has had on English music even modern styles.

Delius wrote the incidental music for Basil Dean's 1923 production of James Elroy Flecker's Hassan . This sequence incorporating Eric Fenby's 1931 version of Serenade from that production was arranged in 1991 for Cello and Piano by Christopher Palmer who the piece is published in memorial to.

This series includes songs by composers who may be little known outside specialist circles but who have achieved something distinctive in this field. Many of these songs and some by well-known composers have long been out of print. Although several publishers now offer an authorized photocopy service the problem is often knowing of the existence of a song rather than of obtaining a copy of it. To keep costs to minimum use has in many cases been made of the original engraving (corrected where necessary) even where this may lead to a somewhat uneven result visually. The intention is to get these volumes into the hands of performers of all ages at an economic price.There is above all a simple missionary purpose: to enthuse encourage and (in the best sense) educate.

In cinema he has worked with distinguished directors such as Stanley Kubrick Lindsay Anderson and Stephen Spielburg. he has also been a familiar face on our televisions for the past thirty years as well. Down those years he's always had a quiet ability to compose songs-words and music. They were written en passant in various places: in a tubercular chalet on the shores of Morecambe Bay - in a back room in Brixton - in a bedroom in Leeds - in a friend's house in St John's Wood. The Banks of Green Willow begins in pastorale mode with the title tune established in the Strings with solo clarinet. The work builds to quite a passionate climax before re-establishing the pastorale mood of the opening. The song on which the story is based has a tragic death at its centre which is reflected in the score.English composer and folksong collector George Butterworth who lived at the turn of the last century and lost his life in the First World War is known for his settings of selections of A E Housman’s A Shropshire Lad and for an Orchestral rhapsody he composed on the same theme. As a Recorder of folksongs he was successful in noting more than threehundred mainly from Sussex. One of them The Banks of Green Willow is the basis for the idyll for Orchestra that has been adapted here for Piano.

Volume 3-The third volume of Ernest John Moeran's Choral Music is for male voices. This centenary edition has been edited by John Talbot. The first half of the album is unaccompanied though a rehearsal accompaniment is included.
