Trompeten-Ouvertüre- The Overture in C major the so-called Trumpet Overture with its brass fanfare was composed in 1826 and a second version with considerable revisions was made in 1833 for performances in Dusseldorf and London. The Overture in C major was first published posthumously in 1867. Christopher Hogwood's Urtext edition takes into account both Mendelssohn's autograph now held in the Bibliothèque nationale in Paris which has two endings as well as the London manuscript copy made for the performance there in 1834; this manuscript contains three separate trombone parts in Mendelssohn's hand. The newBärenreiter edition presents the work as found in Mendelssohn's autograph for the first time. Christopher Hogwood also documents the development of the overture with facsimiles from the 1826 version. Full score & parts (BA9052) available for sale

Dies Infernus means 'Day of Hell'. The reason for this title is the dreadful disaster that befell the Dutch village of Kolhorn in 1788 when the whole village went up in flames. Afterwards a huge appeal was launched to rebuild the unfortunate village. Many people were willing to contribute resulting in the collection of the enormous sum at the time of eighteen thousand guilders with which the village could be rebuilt. This work was commissioned by Harmonie De Eendracht in Kolhorn to mark its 110th Anniversary.

(2008 2012) Playing scoreFor trumpet in B-flat or CThe composer writes about his trumpet piece: “Shining Forth” is a reference to a work created by Barnett Newman in 1961. It is a very strict graphically inspired picture with economical black lines on untreated canvas. It is a homage an 'obituary' a requiem for Barnett Newman's brother whose Hebrew first name is Zerach which means 'to rise' (of the sun). In recent years the trumpet has taken on a special role and importance for me both in chamber music and in orchestral works or in a double concerto for two trumpets. It was time to create a solo piece for this instrument. The music is very introspective in places almoston the edge of tonelessness and lapsing into silence a shrill (out)cry picks out the theme of the loss of a loved family member.'

The book is intended for piano students who have reached Grade V and then need help with the organisation of their practice rather than simply repetitive playing of scales and pieces. Imaginatively presented the author writes of physical and psychological preparation; practice by analysis; the development of a secure memory; how to approach sight-reading; practising scales exercises and pieces by identifying problem areas; and preparation for performance. Whatever techniques you are taught to use this book is an immensely useful aid to making practice pleasurable rather than dull never mindless and always a stimulating voyage of discovery.

Leos Janacek almost seventy years old characterised the wind sextet he had just finished as 'a kind of memory of youth' in a letter to Kamila Stösslová. The suite Youth was written in the summer of 1924 prompted by the composer's need to take stock on the occasion of his 70th birthday. Janacek also heard the Parisian ensemble Societe moderne des instruments a vent several times in Salzburg and Brno. He expanded the classic quintet scoring by the addition of a bass clarinet. Janacek referred to an earlier part of his life in this work not only by quoting a theme from March of the Blue Boys but particularly through his general freshness ofexpression astute humour and use of form which adhered to the classical style. The piece was enthusiastically received by both critics and the public and appeared in print as early as 1925 issued by the Prague publisher Hudebni matice. Wind sextet in the classical style Urtext based on the Critical Complete Edition of the Works of Leos Janacek New foreword by Jiri Zahradka (Cz/Eng/Ger)

One Hand One Heart is a duet from the hit musical West Side Story . It is sung by the two main protagonists Maria and Tony as they dream about their wedding and their life together. It is a bittersweet song as it marks the sole moment of happiness for the couple before reality returns and fear and violence are restored. West Side Story is possibly the most famous musical ever. Inspired by Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet it is set in 1950s New York City and chronicles the life love and losses of two rival gangs. Written in 1957 with music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by StephenSondheim the original setting was highly topical as gang violence was rife at the time but it is often seen as a metaphor for many areas of conflict - one of the reasons the production has remained popular to this day.

No. 2 Ein Feste Burg ist unser Gott-Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott is the second movement of the work Millennial Suite: Hymns through the Ages. The work's six movements make imaginative use of popular hymns that are presented in chronological order. This is a setting of all four verses of Martin Luther's original hymn tune and text. Luther created both the melody and words when the Plague was spreading throughout the community in which he was living at the time. This musical setting employs the melody in its original rhythm which has a much more syncopated and energetic quality in comparison to the usual smoothed-out version that is most sung today. 1. Choir 2. Choir Organ- Version of 1736 (final version) Bach ’s St. Matthew Passion passed through several stages in its progress towards its final form stages that today cannot be completely reconstructed. It may be taken as certain that the work was performed on Good Friday 1729 in St. Thomas’s Church Leipzig in a version of which the copy made by Bach ’s son-in-law Johann Christoph Altnickol gives us an approximate idea. There is no earlier extant autograph score than that of the later version which may probably be dated 1736 and on which the present edition is based. - Study score format 22.5 x 16.5cm - Urtext of the New Bach Edition -Full score performance material (BA5038) vocal score (BA5038-90) and study score (TP196) available for sale
