Starting with the Piano on a slow section Andantino Cantabile (3/4 - tempo 88) the piece then accelerates in the Allegretto Scherzando (6/3 - tempo 120) goes back to a slower part and finishes a fast section of notes. A variation of a small section of the main score is also proposed to the player. Difficulties highlighted in the piece are the fast rhythms and the resulting endurance necessary to play them. Part of the collection Concert Solo Neuvième Solo is a contemporary and modern piece by Raymond Gallois Montbrun for Violin and Piano. Quite difficult this piece should prepare upper-intermediate players to play classical concertos. This really nice piece is composed of a main theme four variations and a final. The theme is quite lyrical and has an Allegretto tempo. The fourth theme stands out by its extensive use of harmonies. The Piano accompaniment also evolves based on the variations. The piece finishes on a really harmonious final. Raymond Gallois Montbrun (1918-1994)was a French violinist and composer who won the Premier Grand Prix de Rome and the Grand Prix de Paris. He later became the director of the Paris Conservatoire. He composed many symphonic pieces an opera a quartet and many pieces for Solo Piano Violin and Piano and other instruments.

Hungarian composer Laszlo Lajtha first studied at the Academy of Music in Budapest before moving to Paris to study with Vincent d'Indy. Initially in collaboration with Béla Bartok and Zoltan Kodaly Lajtha studied the transcription of the Hungarian folk song. He soon began composing other significant work including Sonate En Concert for Flute and Piano often incorporating Hungarian influences. Lajtha 's composition catalogue comprises mainly of orchestral works however Sonate En Concert for Flute and Piano is made up of four movements; 1)Entrance with Two Cadences 2) Nostalgic Berceuse 3) Melancholic Menuet and 4) Gay Finale. The work is highly virtuosic addressing advanced features such as variations in articulation complex rhythms exploitation of the ensemble chromaticism and uses of extended techniques including flutter tonguing. For all advanced flautists Lajtha 's Sonate En Concert is an exciting addition to the repertoire.
